Where is the port to plug in the dongle? Is it a serial port or another type of port? | ||

I assume the subject is the techno-research scan tool? If so, it is (I think) Serial or Blue Tooth. A serial port would be a nine pin port on the back of the computer. If it's Blue Tooth, it's wireless, but you'll need a blue tooth device in the PC as well. | ||

Yes, I'm talking about the techno-research tool. Where is the computer located? Does it have blue-tooth built-in? If so I'm golden because my Pocket PC has built-in bluetooth as well. I just have to figure out how to connect the PPC to the bike. | ||

The Bike does not have BlueTooth, but that would be cool. You need a serial connection, and the connector is tucked up behind the headlights (at least it is on a 12R) | ||

Hm. I found some kind of connector port behind the headlights but its not serial. Is there more than one? BTW the bike is a '03 XB9R. (Message edited by Indy_Bueller on June 03, 2005) | ||

It is not a standard Serial port, you need their adapter to connect the serial port on a PC/PDA to the port on the bike | ||

You need an RS232 (DP9) null modem cable to use their proprietary dongle. The port on XBR's is located behind the fairing (as is the ecm). If using a Palm, you can use the cradle or a serial hot sync cable. | ||

You have to get the dongle from them (or from a couple of the sponsors on this board). The software can be downloaded from the TechnoResearch website. | ||
