Hi, This is Stephanie, Rob isn't doing very well, He's in good spirits but he's very close now. The other two (Lori and Tina) took him outside for some fresh air. He made me promise him to keep you folks posted so I will. He's lost use of his right side, Cancer in His Brain is being Extremely aggressive and he is almost totally blind now. But he is in good spirits. Thank you for all the Help,Prayers and Support. I love to read these messages too.You Folks are so Great! I want to hug you all, He looks forward to us reading his messages for him. Love you all, Stephanie |

Stephanie... I've never met you or Rob but I know your story. It's uplifting to see that Rob is keeping in good spirit. There is nothing I can say to make it easier or better. Just cherish the moments and remember all the good times and love shared. It will help both of you at this crossroads in your lives. Dennis |

Please tell Rob that I hope someday to be half the man he is. I've never been into hero worship but I gotta tell ya that right now, I respect & admire Rob more than anybody. such courageousness is awe inspiring. I wish I lived near enough to tell him this face to face. I'm happy to know he has such good people caring for him. As always, he is in my prayers. |

Stephanie, thank you for checking in and giving us an update on Rob's condition. it is comforting to know that he is surrounded by people he cares about, and who care about him. it is also comforting to know that he is receiving something positive from these posts. it's so hard to know what to say at a time like this, but i know from having suffered the tragic loss of my sister awhile back that just knowing that people care can make all the difference in the world. now then, i need to ask a favor. for the past two years, during the annual Oktoberfast ride, i have asked the participants to donate money during the event, not for the cost of putting on the event, but to be donated to a worthy Buell-related cause. the people who have attended the past two Oktoberfast's have been GREAT, and we were able both years to make a small but positive difference in the lives (and memory) of three Buellers here on BADWEB. i've made the choice where the $$ goes each year, and each time have made the decision just before or after the event. this year i'm changing the rules a bit, and will ask the folks to dig even deeper as i want the money to go to Rob. i imagine there are significant expenses involved with his illness, and altho i can't promise the moon, i can at least promise several hundred dollars, possibly more. i understand that it can be hard to accept charity, but this is NOT charity. the participants know up front that the money we collect will go to a Bueller in need, and that isn't charity, it's friendship, love, compassion and camaraderie. having said all that, if Rob is uncomfortable earmarking the $$ to go to "him", per se, then please ask him if he has a special interest, person, or organization that we can donate the money to, in his name. come October i will be asking the participants of Oktoberfast to look into their hearts and dig deep, and i know that we all will benefit greatly from making a small difference in the life of someone close to us, someone none of us have even met. Stephanie, if you click on my name in the left-hand column it'll take you to my profile, and down at the bottom of the page there's a link where you can send me a Private Message -- it's simply just an easy way to e-mail me. PLEASE tell Rob we are thinking of him, and PLEASE, while there's still time, ask him about what i've talked about above. it'd mean the world to all the brothers and sisters of the wind who are involved. Rob, hang in there buddy -- you've got a lot of friends out here, and we're all in this with you. thank you Stephanie and Lori and Tina, for being you. ride to lean, ride in peace, Ferris and Denise |

I've seen this post a few times and skipped over it thinking it was a disgruntled Buell owner selling his bike. Must look deeper. Thanks for the lesson Rob. Enjoy where you're going. I've come to believe it's pretty good. Sad that you have to though. (edit) Smokedaddy has just pointed me to his post about your name going on the Dakar bike. I'll make sure it's in a prominent place, and a bit bigger, because you obviously have big balls, along with my respect, to be facing this the way you are. Rob, I dont have any great words of wisdom or really know quite what to say but my wife and I often talk about you and are thinking about you all the time down here in Australia. You are a brave man and I have been inspired in many ways by how you are dealing with this and by your brave and positive attitude. Glad to hear you are getting to catch up with all you love and have known, its really important to me also about that sort of thing and not burning bridges and the likes. I like your profile pic, i down loaded it and some how find it peacefull to look at. does the pic have any significance to it. Take care bud, all my very best to you and Stephanie and all your family and friends. Thinking of you all the time mate! |

Wow, I too thought this was another "I hate Buells" thread. So, so sorry to hear about your condition. I'm glad you've led a full life, and you seem as positive as one can be considering. Best to you Rob, and Stephanie as well. Godspeed. |

I, for one, think Jerry has a great idea. Although I won't be attending his function, why not help the cause at Homecoming this year and we can add more to the pot to help out. So buy one less beer or tee-shirt or burger. You won't miss it anyway. And as Jerry said, it's not a hand out or pity money. It's for someone that shares the same interests and passions that we all do. Life, Family, Friend and the Freedom that we all love... riding. I will start out with $20 bucks. Now we need someone who will be at Homecoming for the entire Event willing to take the responsibility to make sure we all kick in and the money finds it's way to where it is needed the most. Anyone else? |

Hi, This is Lori, I just wanted to write and say that Rob passed away last night in his sleep. Stephanie has been taking it hard for the last couple of days. Trying to disbelieve what was truly happening lately. I knew that Rob would have liked you all to stay informed. He will be missed by a lot of people. Thank you for the Prayers and Support. Lori |

There seems to have been a very short time between his last ride and his passing. I know those closest to him would have wanted him to stay a bit longer, but I think the way in which this ended was a blessing for him and his "family." I have taken the liberty of sharing this part of Rob's story with folks on another forum I frequent, hoping that his situation and the courage with which he met his fate can serve as an inspiration...or at least provoke some healthy introspection as it did in my case. My wife and I extend our condolences to Rob's family and his friends....many of whom have never even met him. |
