Gather 'round chil'ren...the old blue donkey has had a vision..... What may be coming in July is going to blow allot of minds. I'm predicting a dual sport / adventure bike that will compete with the Aprilla Caponord, Triumph Tiger, KTM 950, Suzuki V-Strom, BMW R1200GS, etc. But it will be smaller and lighter than the others in its class. The engine may very well be a water cooled Rotax parallel twin with perhaps a 600-700cc displacement and it will be chain or perhaps even shaft driven. It won't be particularly well received by the Buell faithful but the motorcycle press will hail it as the Motorcycle of the Year" because of the groundbreaking way in which Buell manages to hybrid the design innovations of the XB platform, the Harley flat track heritage, and the European adventure touring genre, producing a bike that breaks all molds and establishes a "new world order." Hooligans will motard it and strafe canyons. Old guys will put bags on it and head to Alaska. Harley dealers will scream bloody murder and the Euros will keep the factory in East Troy months behind filling orders. BMW will be furious. Then again... we may get an ECM upgrade and new set of colors for the XB bikes. What do I know...I'm just a blue donkey, anyway.... I guess if I start getting PM's from Buell legal, I'll know how close I am. (Message edited by eor on May 19, 2005) (Message edited by eor on May 19, 2005) |

Buell is a lab rat for HD. So whatever it is, it will, without question, be intended to prove / disprove an economical, simple, reliable next-gen Sportster motor. Don't plan on the apple falling too terribly far from the tree. And I don't see Rotax in the crystal ball, but who would have thought the whole Porsche / V-Rod thing. What do I know. |

This is so weird- when I first checked the board this morning, I couldn't find this thread. My first thought was "DANG! Eor must have nailed it and Blake deleted the thread based on a strong suggestion from the factory." Then I read Eor's updated posts. This should be an episode of the X-Files or something....

Let's see, July predictions? Sunny and warm with incendiary device activations early in the month (at least stateside).

I dont see water cooling just yet either. Also, the whole porsche/v-rod thing is so misled. Porsche did NOT have anything to do with the design of the v-rod motor, all they did was rent their testing facility to HD. All testing was done at porsche but thats it, just testing. |

I've had enough of all this conjecture and hyperbole, so at the risk of death I will provide you with a link to the ALL NEW 2005 Buell: www.airscooter.com Nobody was even close. It's the best dual sport ever...goes anywhere! |

I am a tech at a local HD/Buell dealership. I have 13 years experience as a motorcycle tech and have been trained on the v-rod motorcycle. i do have proof that it was engineered, designed and developed here in the U.S. but i don't think i can legally share that with the public. you will have to take my word for it. Odinbueller, care to back me up on this one? phil |

I heard that they developed a Hybrid It looks like a Buell, but you have to pedal it like a bike. So far the gas mileage tests are in the thousands before they lost the first person to heat exhaustion |

Everyone keeps referring to that "Birth of the V-Rod" special aired on the Discovery Channel. The VRSC motor is a derivative of the VR1000, which was wholly designed by H-D to run in the AMA Superbike class. When the VRSC project came about, they shipped their engineers & beta motors to the Porsche testing facility for research & development. Porsche engineers may have had input on the motor, but they DID NOT design it. The VRSC motor is all Harley, back to the early 90's when the VR1000 first came out. Also, Erik is on record as stating that liquid cooling is a possibility due to public demand on a model, but not across the board, as air-cooling for the XB engine is right now the most efficient & EPA compliant method. |

Damn so now what your telling me is that I should have waited 3 more months before I bought my bike!!! I like my SX but if they come out with something really really cool I'll be kicking myself. So now I sit here patiently awaiting the new models. |

Eh. You don't want the first model year no matter how cool it was. Enjoy your SX. I wouldn't worry about it. |

Okay, here's the REAL scoop; They are going to introduce a special theme bike, to comemorate the success of the XB's. The bike will sport a special paint scheme, that,to those who are familiar to the Buell bikes, will recognize. From a distance, they will look amazingly like the 05 models, but up close, you will be able to read the ID plate where it say's "2006".... The theme is said to be, "2006 model year" |

The entire line will remain unchanged until the 2008 model year when they will come out with the special 25 anniversary paint scheme. |

I would think an xb12sx would be a likely addition to the line, however I think tranlucent amber would be a more likely color for the bodywork with contrasting wheels, probably black. |

After seeing the pictures from Seattle maybe all the 2006 Buells should come with Erik's signature on! |
