Will saddle bags still mount on my XB12S after I have cut the cheese grater.I'm wondering if my factory turn signals will be in the way now. | ||

If you are talking about the removeable Buell ones No They are contoured to fit around the lights and the bag then extends towards the front of the bike. Elff I realize what your saying but when you cut the cheese grater you actually cut off the original mounting area for the turn signals.So in return you have to move them further forward. | ||

U can easily do that. They just have velcro straps that connect under the rear seat moving them 2-5" forward should be easy I am sure a dealer that had them in stock could allow you to do a test fit before you purchase them. Im selling mine on Ebay do a search on Buell Lightning Saddlebags They are in perfect shape and were only used once. They just arent what I was looking for. instead, I am going to get a tank bag so I can have a map in front of me | ||

Does anyone know how these bags mount? Do I have to cut any of the body? (12r) | ||

Vaxb I would assume with a 12 R the straps go under the pillion. You will not have to cut any of the body but I am curious about the following statement from the Buell website Includes saddlebag support brackets and reflector relocation brackets for easy installation. The S versions do not come with either of those. | ||

This may help, I have Nelson Rigg mini moto saddle bags. In the picture I just have them sitting there but they do mount up nice and work great, plus they only cost $80 and I have heard they are a great product. Hope this helps. Really all you have to do to get them mounted is try a few different combinations with the hooks and straps and once you find it, it works quite well.     | ||

BADS1, the one thing I did have to do with the stock turn signals is take out the middle rubber spacer which in turn shortens the turn signals, I don't think you can really tell that from the pictures. | ||

Hey Elff, let me satisfy yer curiosity and maybe help out a few R-tail guys as well... You're right- the straps go under the pillion. The "bracket" is a black sheetmetal part that uses the two existing undertray bolts. It hangs down two little wing things that slip into pockets on the bags. Not very noticeable when the bags are off. The reflector relocator brackets are a cheezy S-shaped sheetmetal designed to get the reflectors out from under the bags. I just spun my reflectors to the rear instead of using them. Hope this helps someone, -NadZ     P.S. Hey buell.com- why only one tiny pic on your website... you tryin to not sell stuff? | ||

That actually solves one of the issue I have with them on the S version. There is no way to anchor the bottom and they just kind of flip flop around. Great pics Thanks | ||

Great info Nadz, Elff. Do you think a laptop would fit inside the Buell bags? Can you give interior dimensions? | ||

Cptjim, A laptop will fit in the trunk bag but you will have to be creative to secure it inside the bag. The saddlebags will not hold a laptop. DBird | ||

It really depends on the laptop. Not all laptops have the same dimensions. A Dell D410 could fit easily but a Dell D610 would be tight but I think it would fit. Widescreen laptops like the higher end HPs and Apples would not but like Dbird said, getting it to not flop around is another story and I am sure an unsecured laptop hard drive would not like S turns. |
