Cruzin home Saturday night after work (midnight about 50deg) and my engine light comes on. So I exit at the next ramp to check things out and find nothing obvious. Oil level good, nothing rattling, bike still runs good. So I get back on the interstate and the light goes off. ten minutes later back on, two minutes after that back off. It did this about three times before I made it home. Next day (sunny 70deg) I road to the races and put about 55 miles on her without the light coming on. That night on my ride back home the light was coming on and going off again! Any thoughts? Anybody else have this happen? the bike seems to be running the same. |

You have an intermittent trouble code that needs to be checked. It may not be anything major, but should still be checked out. Any Buell dealer should be able to check it out. Is it happening while cruising at highway speeds? If so, could be a bad O2 sensor. The O2 sensor is only used when cruising at highway speeds, so if it's happening then, could be that sensor is bad, or maybe just loose connection. |

I had an issue with a jiggly kickstand switch. Sounds like the same thing. I just tightened it and been fine for weeks. |

Yeah so far it has only happened at 70 to 80 mph. I'll check the kickstand switch first then think about taking it to a dealer... uhgg! Thanks |

The XB12's and 04 XB9's don't have kickstand switches. Get it hooked up to a reader and see what code you have. Or, if you have the service manuel it will have instructions on how to make a device to get the codes. |

Taking the bike to the dealer is worse than going to the dentist! I guess It's time to order that manual. |

I hate to see fellow Buellers so disenchanted with the dealer network. If you weren't on a different coast, I'd recommend you bring it over to us. We're trying to be the better (if not best) Buell dealer. If you really want to retrieve & clear the codes yourself, check the section 4.4 & 4.5 in the service manual (for 2003 models at least) titled checking for trouble codes & check engine lamp diagnostics. The check engine lamp will blink the numeric value of the code. If you don't have one, you really should get the factory service manual. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll help out as best I can. |
