Anyone here running on Tamahawk tires? They look so funny - I might have to get some of those one of these days!!! Can't help my taste - but orange on a black XBs should be a fun contrast. |

Read this and be educated... I bought these tires and documented the whole ordeal. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=4062&post=250069#POST 250069 |

I've read a bad review or two in the cycle mags, pretty stiff and not much grip... me, i like tires that feel sticky |

A buddy of mine put them on his 636, the money he saved on the tires he put into repairing the bike. No Good. Dont scimp on tires, regardless of the bike they are the "confidence" between machine and the ground. I have been using Pirelli's with confidence. |

Thanks for the replies. Sorry to read your troubles Koz5150. At first I was no way - only after reading this thread with Garth Dillon's posts: http://forums.cycleworld.com/eve/ubb.x/a/tpc/f/72660552/m/734604501/p/1 I started thinking maybe they aren't too bad. And then the thought of leaving orange burnout marks on the pavement.... (Message edited by mikeguava on May 02, 2005) |

I started thinking maybe they aren't too bad. And then the thought of leaving orange burnout marks on the pavement.... LMAO...You sound just like Koz about a year or so ago. Just my opinion, but I will stick with premium quality tires on my bikes. Not saying you will have any difficulty with them. Just implying that I don't want to risk my life or my bike for a few bucks. A second thought would be if colored tires are so good, why isn't there a major tire manufacturer experimenting with them on their first quality products? My luck, there is and I am about to learn who is doing it, eh? LOL |

http://www.coloradocyclist.com/common/products/displayproductlist_v2.cfm?&CGRFNBR=319&CRPCGNBR=319&TextMode=0&CI=1,224 Colored tires have been getting use on bicycles for some time now. Not motorcycles, but traction is still important albeit (sp???) at a much lighter weight and usually slower speed. Of course if you ever visit a bicycle race up close and personal like here or here and see a pack of riders going less than 15" from your face at 30+mph in a corner you may think it's more the market than the technology that's preventing motorcycles tires having a bit more color in them at an acceptable performance level. YMMV (you knew I'd pop in here) |

I can't imagine what the stress of a burnout would do to the retread. It's all good till somebody crashes in the name of having cool colors on thier bike. I ended up going the other way and spending money on LED lights and regular tires
