Awhile back someone here said that Ducati had an 18,000 rpm 200+HP engine. The truth is dyno testing is not scheduled until sometime in May. In the computer industry this kind of product is called "vaporware". Greg |

Not having read the Harry Potter books yet, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Firebolt is a high performance item in that environment. Check these attributes*:
- streamlined
- treated with a diamond-hard polish
- hand-numbered with its own registration number
- honed to aerodynamic perfection
- unsurpassable balance
- pinpoint precision
- acceleration of 150 mph in 10 seconds
- unbreakable Braking Charm
- when you pick it up (the pace) then let go, it (front wheel) hovers at exactly the right height
- turns with the lightest touch
- seems to obey thought rather than grip
- superbly smooth action
Summing it all up: "Released in the summer of 1993, the Firebolt is currently the fastest racing broom in the world."* *Credit HPL. Inspiration for BMC's Firebolt? Let's hope it works magic for them too. Sparky 96S1, 98S3 |

Anony A here (Thanks Blake, btw I took your humour for what it was. ) Yup, I'll be at MITM and my hair is even kinda red! S32002, While no dyno testing is scheduled till may it already been announced that this motor is going in their GP bikes. "VaporWare" are things that are announced but never exist. I doubt that is the case with the Ducati motor. Sun Tzu's "Art of War" and Sun Pin's "Military Methods" have had permanent places on my bookshelf for a long time now. Along with the "Book of Nine Rings" and several others. You are probably correct about them (Buell) being so closed mouth, but it is INCREDIBLY frustrating on the consumer side. Do I hold out and wait to see if Buell is going to make what I want, or do I go buy the Japenese version of what I want? Help! |

Anon, Actualy "vaporware" often refers to products that are announced before they exist. At this point the Ducati engine could qualify under either definition. The planned engine is a V4. Firing order may be either both cylinders of each bank firing at the same time to simulate a V twin power pulse or it may use a more conventional firing order. 200+HP and 18,000 rpm are still specs on a dream sheet. If someone already makes what you want I say go for it. Buell may never make what you want. On the other hand? Greg |

Anon A: You want my advice? Life is too short too wait. I'd say buy what turns your head now, you can always sell it and go for the Buell SBK if indeed there ever is one. |

So Blake, it follows that YOU would be "ASStute", no? (And if you want math or diagrams from ME you're SOL J) |

Saro: Your "off topic" comment. Never mind, I take it back. RRR: Didn't think it was possible, but it seems your attempts at humor are even more lame than mine. (How's that for an ASStute remark?) |

Greg, Don't confuse the 200HP 18,000 V-Twin 998R Testastretta motor that Troy Bayliss and Ben Bostrom will be using in this year's World Superbike, with the 220+HP 16,000 RPM Desmosedici V4 that is currently being shown as a 3D CAD drawing. Both are going to be lethal competitors, and the Testastretta isn't a dream, it's Honda's nightmare. Jim X-2.5 |
