Hey Guys, I'm new to bad web and just got my first bike (picking it up this Thursday). Its a black and copper Lightning. I bought it used with about 5k miles on it. I work with Mr. Keith Thrash and he told me about this site and said it was a good place to start and ask questions so here goes. The guy at the Buell shop would like to see me get the extended warranty. Do you think I'll need it? Its an extra $1400. If anybody has "just be sure that..." or "make sure that..." tips or advice for when I do the walkaround, that would be really helpful. I'll be looking for gear as well so if anyone has some good options to look at, let me know. I look forward to hearing from you and to future posts. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Break it in gently and leave it stock; it'll give you tons of fun in the saddle. Or modify it a lot and have your fun in the garage working on it. Whatever is more fun for you. |

Depends on how long the warranty is and what it covers. I would say no if your looking at adding the amount of the warranty to any finance options. I haven't had my Buell log enough to know if there are any long term problems that would cost more to fix than the warranty. I would take the $1400 and put it in a account and let it draw interest and use it only when you have a problem. |

Like *STOCK* stock, or *mostly* stock? I understand exactly where you are coming from, much of my pain with the Cyclone was self inflicted. And to be honest, I really did enjoy the garage time. I want the 9sx to be reliable though. All I have done is drop in the race filter, a drummeresque exhaust, the race ECM, pulled the snorkel, and cut open the airfilter cover. And I am leaving it like that. What I want is "stock the way the factory would have built it were the EPA not dictating terms". I suppose that would be the factory race kit... but I am darn close to that... |

Hey Keith, be careful. Imonabuss is someone you should listen to and not make fun of. Leave it at that. |

Cool, well what things should I be looking for before I take delivery? Belt... dents... Tires... It was dropped by the previous owner and the Buell shop replaced the entire frame under warranty. I guess the owner just didn't want it back. I'm really excited but I want to make sure I'm not getting something thats been beat up too much. |
