I told my friend I wanted metallic silver and LeMans Blue from the BMW M5 and the BMW-Williams F1 race car. Other than that I told him to do whatever he wanted. I would have taken pics outside but its raining. Sorry about all the flourescent lights reflecting on the parts. Can't wait to put them on.

Thanks. It was a black 2003 XB9S. The wheels are silver but I am thinking of painting them the same blue and leaving the wheel lips polished. |

It was a freebie/trade sort of deal. I could find out what he would charge for a similar paint job though. The stripes are metallic silver and dove grey vinyl. The paint is from Spies Hecker. |

Looks nice man. How does paint hold up on the soft/flexi plastic? |

He used a flex additive...same stuff they add when painting urethane bumpers. Seems to hold up well...at least for the 3 hours I've had them! |

That is by far the best looking paint I have seen on the XB plastic's. Cannot wait to see what the WHOLE bike looks like as a package. Hope the weather co-ops with you so it can be put together. |

Thanks for the compliments guys. I can't wait to see it all together either! It's supposed to rain all weekend so all of us might have to wait a couple of days. Unfortunately, my bike is not stored at my home. As soon as I get to it and its dry out I'll take pics. Over the past 5 years or so I've made a lot of decals for the guy who did the painting. I rarely charge him for the decals and he's always offered to paint my bikes for me. I finally took him up on the offer. I'll ask what he'd charge for a similar job on Monday. He paints a lot of roadrace bikes and restored bikes. He likes to paint pretty much all bikes but cruisers, although I've seen him do some wonderful work on them too. He has done paint work for DucatiUSA and he has consulted Kawasaki. I'll try to get pics of what he's done to make his mandarin R1100S and ZRX1200R look good. He's got a knack for buying ugly bikes and making them look awesome. Tatsu - I don't get the helicopter thing? That's slick! Keep us informed on how it goes together. I'd be curious to see if it peels a little around the bolt holes on the 'tank' cover where the clear washers smash into it. |

Now that you mention it I do remember being told to apply a little clear grease on those spots, between the "tank" and washer. I was so excited to see the parts that I wasn't paying much attention. |

I'd substitute or find some flat rubber washers to keep the stock plastic washers off the paint in addition to the clear grease, but that's just me... (the grease wouldn't break down a rubber washer would it?) |

He is in Woodbridge. He works in the office of a top notch autobody shop and has use of the shop at night. My shop is 1/4 mile from his so we could meet at my place too. |
