I bought a new '03 XB9S last week and I've gone through 4 headlight bulbs since then. There's definitely something wrong. I'm obviously going to take it back to the dealer to have them look at it, but has anyone else had this problem? 3 low beams and 1 high beam. The bike also is not running or starting as it should. I've got about 650 miles on it now. Any ideas? It sounds to me like a regulator problem. Thanks guys/gals, Bruce |

They're supposed to run on Gasoline.. Not headlight bulbs. Thats a concern... |

Thanks for that tidbit of info. LOL I know the gas goes in the frame and the oil goes in the swingarm. Does the air still go in the tires? |

sounds like either one of two things in my eperience You say it starts funny and eats light bulbs Could be a regulator, easy enough to figure out, find someone with a volt meter and check the voltage while running, should be between 12.5 and 14 volts, off idle. OR, you may have what I found on mine before it caused a problem, and that was a very loose ground wire, where the battery ground attaches to the frame of the bike. I took mine off, cleaned everything with a wire brush, reattached and covered with battery conector protectant, not a single problem since. Check it out, mine found at 1000 miles, so might be some similarity there!! Bruce |

Did you happen to touch the bulb when installing it? If you did, since it's Halogen, you need to wipe it off with rubbing alcohol. The oil in your skin will reflect back and destroy the filament. Just guessing, but it could be a factor. |

Nope, I've replaced many a halogen bulb in my day and I'm fully aware of not touching the glass portion with bare fingers. Thanks. |

Don't for get to put the summer air in your tires. Don't want to be riding on that winter air. |

The dealer came and picked up my bike...85 miles away! They're going to look at it Monday. They'll get 'er all fixed up and deliver it back good as new, and washed! Gotta love it. In the mean time I'll have to slum around on my '03 Gixxer. (Message edited by MrVvrroomm on April 24, 2005) |

They're supposed to run on Gasoline.. Not headlight bulbs. Lightbulbs might be cheaper then gas these days.... |

I just got word from my dealer that they think it's the stator. They've got part in hand, just waiting for them to install it. I'm hoping this is the root of all my problems: bulbs, starting, idling, etc. |
