I have 1700mi on my '05 XB9SX. Intermittently the clutch actuator chatters. It happens at stops. The clutch works and trans shifts normally. You can pull in and release the clutch and change the noise (pitch) and you can feel it through the clutch lever. I took the actuator inspection cover off and all looks normal. I did not disassemble it because I did not have a spare C-clip. I readjusted the push rod and clutch lever freeplay and the problem came back today on the way home from work. It was fine on the way in. Anybody got any ideas? |

I would suggest taking it in and having it looked at under warranty. I don't even want to venture a guess, but something is obviously loose and there shouldn't be anything loose. |

Getting it to a dealer is possible but it's a hassle. This is my only transportation. Anyway, having been an auto/MC tech in the past, if the problem is not present when the tech is looking at it there is a real slim chance they are going to "see" the noise if you know what I mean. I was fishing for some known problem. |

I lubed my clutch cable on my 9sx after 3000 miles, and was suprised to note a marked improvement in clutch feel at the lever. |

Ejiii, check your primary chain tension, you might be feeling chainslap as it rattles across the clutch basket. |

Thanks again. Primary was adjusted to spec at 1000mi. I will recheck, I have done some hard riding. Lot's of twisties with hard on/off throttle applications. I have lubed the cable a few times since new so it is way slick. Very nice. |
