Hi everyone,

Well my bike's snorkel was removed when they installed the Jardine yesterday ,yet, I don't notice any difference in the way she sounds as the result of the snorkel removal. Can someone tell me what exactly is the point of removing the snorkel? Thanks all.

Increase air flow to the air box. The bottom of the snorkel is smaller than the top, while the hole in the fram is uniform all the way down. So removing the snorkel allows more air to flow in. I only noticed a little more intake noise when I get on it hard, that was before I put the jardine on, now I don't a lot of the intake over the pipe.

Don't you need to cut up the airbox though in conjunction with removing the snorkel?

FYI:
removing the snorkel is part of the Buell Factory race kit instruction/installation.

Like several other guys, I cut the bottom of my snorkel off (actually cut it about half way up the snorkel) and installed the top portion to fill in the gap left by the base plate and the frame/gas tank.

The Buell tech removed the whole dang thing on mine. I don't hear any intake noise. Maybe it's cause the Jardine is so damm loud. : ) My ears ring after a while.

reduc: how much "power" did you lose by removing the rubber snorkel? i am trying to understand how a small diameter tube can add power to an engine. are you quite certain there are not other factors involved, possibly temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, fuel brand or quality, or perhaps the ECM stored parameters having affected your power measurements? not trying to be a dick, just really curious about seemingly small tuning tricks adding or subtracting power. for example some claims of more horspower and better running from certain types of motor oil, or brands of spark plug, or fuel additive, always give me pause to ponder how this could be so.

it was noticeably less torque at lower rmp, 3-4k...it did rev easier, but i did feel less pull at 2500-4000. i thought maybe the ecm needed to be reset, drove for 5mintutes at 3800, still the same...did notice less poping on decel, but even the sound on accel was missing..it was weird, as i too thought it couldnt make that much of a diference, but i put the snokel back in, and it felt better...weird i know.....

The only difference I found was the intake noise went from muffled to out there.
