What's the difference?

Are there any performance gains with either, or is it simply cosmetic?

I think Jet-Hot is better. They'll do your headers and exhaust for about $240. Colors are limited though.

Ceramic is good, but for the price, you're better off with Jet-Hot. I believe the difference is that Jet-Hot coats the outside and the inside, where ceramic is just the outside. Both will help performance by keeping the temperature down.

I don't know about performance increase with powder coating, but you have to use high temp powder and again, colors are limited.

Jet Hot and ceramic is one in the same.Jet Hot is a company. They coat inside and out if you go somewhere else all you have to do is ask if they will or if they do the inside as well.

Ceramic coating is intended to accelerate the speed of the exiting exhaust. Supposedly, this occurs because the exhaust is kept very hot as it travels through the pipe - maintaining energy instead of the pipe absorbing it. If you get pipes ceramic coated, make sure you do the inside and the outside.

DO NOT powder coat your header!!!!!!
It will blister off. I had my nerf bars on my sprintcar powder coated and the header comes out in front of it, didn't take long to distroy the powder coating.

They make high temp powder coat that will withstand 1100 degrees. You can't use regular powder coat on it.

I'm calling Al. I can't believe I didn't know he could have these things done in colors other than silver. Black is what I'd like to have.

Thanks for all the advice and explanations.

Black would look great on your bike.

I wouldnt go with any powder coat. I would stay with a ceramic coat(my 2 cents).

My pipes are ceramic coated and performance wise its hard to tell. only on a dyno could you maybe see the performance increase.
