P.S. I figured it out.... When I get back from Okinawa and get stationed back at Camp Pendleton, I'll still be able to hit 100k before I retire like I planned on. So If anyone is planning on hitting 100k before me you have until Dec of 2006 to do so.

How is putting miles on it killing the engine? I'm working on getting 10K on mine before my 1 year of ownership comes around. Got 6500 miles on it now.

Buelltroll,

Don't be a hater, If you don't like my post on my mileage, just don't open it or read it.

Some fellow Buellers like the fact that I put my mileage on here.

As far as a competition goes, the guy that had the same goal and the lead 44k, sold his XB for a new Street Rod about a month ago. So I am now in the lead as far as BadWeb Xb's goes.

Seems a bit like a nuerotic obsession to me.

If this helps substantiate the high engineering levels of the Buell motorcycle, why not push the envelope...the BMW boys are doing this to their machines all the time!
I just can't figure out where you get the time to do all that glorious riding (green with envy...).
Keep up the good work! Bravo!

Engines are built for one purpose-to be used. There's no reason (unless you're worried about resale) not to ride any less than you would drive any car. Remember, It's all about the passion!

If I recall ski that engine had some work done to it which could have caused it to die, right?

Let's see, camp pendelton, how many trips across the Ortega Hwy and up and down Palomar mtn not to mention one of my favorite roads, the hwy 94 down along the border, do you think it'll take? I envy you. Only down side to moving back to Missouri was losing access to those roads.

Please tell us about your maint work. What oils do you use, how often do you change them, etc.

Nice work. That is a ton of miles for a bike.

especially when you concider the time frame that he has put those miles in. I had read somewhere in one of the mags, with only a few exceptions (BMW owners) the average milage per year for a non-touring bike is something like 2500-3000...hmmm, maybe that would be a good thread, see if we can figure out the average milage per year for Badweb members regardless of brand...just to get an idea of how much Badwebbers love to ride: )

Ryan,

The work that was done prior to my engine seizing was a temp fix on an oil leak from the oil pump.

Brucelee,

Everything you want to know is in my profile pretty much. I do my scheduled maintenance as recommended and have been using Mobile1 for the last 3 oil changes, prior to switching I was using the HD stuff.

Kc, your getting there!

I have now owned the bike for 2 years and 3 days, and have really only ridden it for about 1 1/2 years out of that time.

I learned the joy of the roads he had access to as well. I went to Staff Course at Pendleton from Yuma and came home every weekend for six weeks. 76 from Pend. around Palomar, on up to Julian for apple pie break, 78 down back side of mountain to turnoff for Ogilby. That's a nice stretch of curvy desert road there...
I miss it.

Brian, I too am at 14K. I'll race ya!!!
