I love my bike but i HATE the single low beam on at night. Is there a conversion kit or would someone recommend a way to change them to dual intensity bulbs so both lights are on together?

I agree with you on the single beam. It really does look odd. Sometimes I run with the switch in the middle of high and low beam. That puts both on at the same time. However, with road conditions, that's all it takes is a bump and it goes back to one beam.

you can rewire it so that when you have it on high beam they will be both on, if i recall you hook the blue and the yellow wire together on the left switch harness....i may be wrong about the colors but it can be done.

I got my bike used so I'm not sure of the wires...but the previous owner did this. Low is just the low and high runs both together. I generally just leave it on high so both area always on for better visibility. I've only been flashed at once by a car but it was at an intersection and I was at the crest of a hill so one of them was probably straight in their eyes. I'm guessing the service manual has the wiring diagram to easily do this.

On the "R" model both headlights are on when the high beam switch is turned on, you shouldn't have to make any wiring changes. I have found raising the adjustment of the low beam light ( I backed off on the adjustment screw 2 turns ) has made some improvement.

I raised the low beam a touch, lowered the high beam a touch, and removed the internal low beam dangly-dohickie. I run both lights all the time. I also run the blue tint H3 bulbs too. Puts out a better spectrum of light IMHO.

I'm sure that everybody to include myself has heard, "hey, one of your headlights is out".

I'm sure that everybody to include myself has heard, "hey, one of your headlights is out".

Back when I was young and stupid (last summer), I almost told Bubba Blackwell that one of his headlights was out. I would only have had about 10,000 people witness me do that. I have rarely been so thankful that I kept my mouth shut.

I might be in background of this photo:

I enjoyed his shows. Some of the coolest stunting I've seen. He makes it enjoyable.

i figured it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on the wiring harness(between the headlights)there is a round grey plug that isn't connected to anything.the orange and white wire on this plug stays hot when the key is on(no matter what position the lightswitch is in).connect that orange wire to where the yellow wire is connected on the low beam light and you will have both lights when the switch is on high and just the low when the switch is on low.takes no more than ten minutes to do,so go and try it now and let me know what you think.i have a lightning, but it should be the same on both models.

Keithbro1,

Is this for Firebolt or Lighting?? I am trying to search for round grey plug on my Lighting.... I am interesting to have both lights on while using high beam mode but in low beam mode only "low beam" remain on.

Can you post the pix of it so I can get the idea where the plug is? Thanks!

buellridersww,
i replied to your email.you should have no problem doing the mod now.unless the wiring is different on the 03 & 04 lightnings or on the xb9s & xb12s.it should be the same though.let me know how it goes.
