Well Mr. Bus, if you'd care to pull your panties out and re-read september 2001 you'll see that there is less than 2 pages of text (w/ the XB on the cover) and it is nothing more than the pr hype (ok, there's a paragraph or two of quotes from nobles about riding it), as I stated.

Relax, yes, I know what RRW is, who writes for it, and their reputation (and it's the only subscription I have). I said nothing negative about either the publication nor the bike...geez, we're awfuly sensative.

Now, if we're talking about a later issue (though I don't remember anything else up to the latest december 2001)...than clarify what your talking about and I apologize for not doing the same.

Those of you concerned about insurance costs could consider my approach. Rather than allowing a bank to purchse the bike for you, buy it yourself with a credit card. Put liability only and use your savings to add to the pricipal. If you have good credit 0% introductory cards will rain on you and every so an then you can transfer the balance when the rates go up.

A while back I put 3K down on a 10K bike, the remaining 7K over 3 years were going to cost about 3300 to insure. That was about 50%. At the time I thought it to be excessive and avoided it as mentioned above.

If you are not a risk taker and don't live in the midst of a 4 million metropolis perhaps fullcoverage is for you.

I had diner last night with a number of Buell employees last night ans I must say my eagerness to get my XB has jumped up several notches.

Now for any one readign this from Buell no one said anything about any specifics or anything at all about the whoel program.

What got me excited was the level of excitment of these folks about buying one themselves.

These are folks who get to ride Buell pretty much when every theu want. They get to ride a lot of bikes without having to pay for them and they are all very pumped up about getting this bike.

I mentioned that I had one on order to xx and they said "what number are you on the list? I'm number 2 that bast44d cc beat me to number one"

These people have owned and do own a wide variety of bikes and they are more excited about this thing than any other bike.

They are all pretty clear about it, this thing is earth shaking, the numbers don't tell the story, it FEELS unlike any other bike on the market.

Jose,
After seeing the xb in race trim that thing is bad ass looking. I bet getting 115rwhp out of a firebolt at 425 or so wet would be pretty cool. Although not as cool as having more than 115rwhp with liquid cooling and multi valve head. Maybe when the S1 is paid for I will pick up an XB used for say $8k next year.

Detroit:

I love the bike, I admire Buell and wish to own domestic over anything else. I also want a capable bike that not only excels in the turns. The real wold has far many more straightaways.

Well, I do know of one factory person with an XB on order, and I hope I can be at his ordering dealership on the day it arrives. Hopefully by then I'll have another digital camera and post a pic of the occaision. Yep, there's a whole lot of internal interest in the XB. I should add, I'm not privy to any inside info, I was just at the right place at the right time and heard the right conversation, but that's all I can say. It is neat though, should be a good pic if I get it. :)

Unfortunately those straights have a fairly prohibitive speed limit as well as pesky obstacles waiting to jump in front of us.

Blake-

You ARE talking about trees, right?

On a slightly more interesting note, what ever happened to all the 3 valve head talk? Is the XB 3 valves or not? The magazines haven't talked much about this.

Blake:

Getting ticketed for speeding has to be less dangerous than entering a blind curve at 60 mph. Besides the thrill of turning there is that freeway on-ramp, free of entrances where cops cannot hide, a gutter of pleasure. You can point your 140 HP in line 4 and reach 125 before it merges into the freeway and you have to slow down for 80 mph traffic.

To each his own...

Just like tires and oil, tickets are an associated cost of the lifestyle.

Yeah, trees... deer, bear, dogs, kids, critters of all sorts, rocks, boulders. Not to mention the dang oblivious cagers waiting in ambush.

Be careful out there!

Yeah, for me a decreasing radius 25 mph posted lefthander was the real ass kicker. My ribs still ache just thinking about it. Turns out quite a few dudes had lost their life on that curve. I did go back and kick it's ass exactly one year later and 5 mph slower than the previous attempt. Got back on the horse so to speak.

I did forget to mention one little thing when I rode the Firebolt...

I was checking throttle response at a stop in neutral - I think we were still in the parking lot. I got a teeny little airbox muffled backfire.

Anyone see that kind of phenomenon on the current STOCK FI bikes?

Forcewinder on the intake, but did it with stock airbox and with K&N filter and gutted airbox too.

The www.buell.com website has some videos of the firebolt with some racers.
Has anyone noticed that the race bike has an adjustable rearwheel axle position? I wonder if they are going to sell that swingarm with adjustment as a pro series Item? I also noticed they have a frame slider mounted. Anyone know what first year production numbers are supposed to be on the XB?
