HELP. I'm in the process of installing Woodcraft shifter. The shift lever adjusting linkage that came with it is simply too short, less than 2", and the stock (2.25 in) is also too short.

Anyone know who sells aftermarket part. I'm talking about the round tube that adjusts the shifter position. It's basically an aluminum tube with 10-32 threading (right) at one end and 10-32 threading (left) at the opposite end. It needs to be around 3" long.

when flipping the upper linkage connection for GP shifting some of the race bikes use the plugged hole in the primary cover to attach the shift lever, then the adjusting rod is long enough.

Many thanks Rsh. You solved my problem. I looked at the instruction again, and I didn't understand what it meant by upper motor mount. After looking at your pictures, in dawned on me right away that the shifter should be mounted above. I didn't even realize there was another shift mount location. Thanks again.

Hey DC, can you take a pic of that shifter with the stock lever next to it for a length comparison?

Here's the comparison. Woodcraft is longer and the peg is adjustable a bit and costs under $80 (for standard or GP).

Hmmm.. if you put the shifter on the upper mount. How is it when you change the transmission oil? Does the arm get in the way?

Trans oil change is not a problem because you can press the shifter down and just clear the cover.

or, if you know your bike and have changed the oil often enough to know it takes 1 quart every time(not all, I generally have 1 quart come out since I side stand it then lift the front end after) then you fill it through the inspection cover for the primary chain tension while your checking the tension : )

Same here. I still pour it in the lower cover to be certain, but every time it's taken exactly one quart as long as I put a short length of 2x4 under the kick stand to get the bike level...

Be careful on windy days!!!
