In doing some searches, I see some people have run these tires. If you have run either one of these tires what mileage did you get out of them. |

Just got my michelin pilot powers and i love them. probably only have two hundred miles on them(so far). I like them a lot better than the dunlops. |

You might want to look at this tire test table post in the Knowledge Vault, lists many tires and our estimable members opinion of them. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/94953.html?1109356142 As you will see there, I am very happy with my new Michelin Pilot Powers. Both the handling and wear characteristics are outstanding. Glitch, one of our most talented high mileage studmuffin streetfighters swears by his Metzler Sportec M-1s. Lots of other tires are listed there as well. Pirelli Diablos are hot too. Unless you do nothing but superslab back and forth kind of work, it seems like a good idea to me to get one of these super sticky tires to get the most out of our Buells great road holding potential. |

I have looked at that table and it's missing the two data points I'm looking for and that's the Pilot Road and Metzeler Z6. I'm running Pilot Power's now and have 2300 miles on them and using the rear up pretty quick. I guess I will get another 1000 to 1500 miles out of it. |

Sorry I don't know anyone that runs those tires. Pirelli Diablo, Scorpion, and Metzler M1 seem to be the tire of choice around here. Fran_dog just put on a set of Pilots, although I don't know if they were the Road or not. He said after a mountain ride Sunday he was very happy with them. |

Charles, Yes, I sent you back a note. I would like to hear from the Pilot Road crowd (or should that be few). With my current Pilot Power tires I figure it's costing me $6.60 each time I fill up on fuel for the tires I will use on that tank of fuel. That's getting 3500 miles out of the rear and 7000 out of the front. |

MeZ6 is the RoadTech, its a very good tire, best I tried until I got the Scorpion Sync's on the xb9sx. FAR Better then D220's, better wear then D205's, marginally better then the MeZ4(3?4?) they replaced in the Metzler line. Seems to stick just as well as a D205, wears a lot better, and has a more rounded profile (so it does not flop into turns like the D205). I would get a hint of slow wander at exactly 55 mph on the Cyclone, but nothing scary, and any faster or slower then that and it went away. |

I'm on my second Z6 rear. I like them much better than the stock 207's that came on my 03 xb9s. I got about 5000 miles out of the rear, and expect 8 or 9000 out of the front. |

"I would like to hear from the Pilot Road crowd (or should that be few). " I've gone through a few Pilot Roads on my Aprilia Futura. The rears lasted about 5500miles. The Pilot Sports lasted about 4500. The M1s I've used on my S1 last maybe 3000miles I haven't used the M1s on the 'priller for comparison, or vise-versa. I'll be trying the M6 Roadtek on the 'prilla next. Ride safe, have fun. Will (Message edited by viknwill on March 08, 2005) |

I'm running the pilot roads on a 2001 X1. I have just over 5k on them, and they look ready to go a bunch more. I like the feel of Dunlop 208s better, but they don't last at all. The pilot's seem to offer the same grip, they just don't give as much feedback as the Dunlops. then again I'm comparing a sport tire to a sport touring tire. What I've read on the Z6s has been good so far. Check here for a review of the Z6. |

I have gone through a set of Pilot Roads on my XB9R and got about 9500 miles out of them. The the front should get about 12,000 - 15,000 miles from what I can tell. The Pilot Sport/Powers will wear faster with about 1/2 to 5/8s the miles of the Roads. I had a set of Sport and Powers on my SV1000S and never got more than 5000 miles out of the rear and 8000-9000 out of the front. |

Gowindward, You are depressing me with the per tank tire figures! I choose to think tires are a one time cost and free until they wear out. I ordered some Scorpion Syncs today from American Motorcyle Tire, I will let you know how they work out. DBird |

Dbird, I have been using tires up so quick that I wanted to put the cost into some perspective as far cost per amount of use. I figured breaking it down to per gas fill up was a good way for me to look at it. Oh ya! and that's with me doing the tire change and balancing. Looks like the Pilot Road guys may be getting a few more miles out of the Michelin's then the Z6 guys are getting out of the Metzeler's. Lovematt, For most of your riding what kind of miles are they? City, freeway, twisties....etc? Looks like you are getting a lot of miles out of your tire, which is great! Are road surfaces pretty good in your area? |

I've got the Metzeler M1 Sportec on the front and the Z6 on the rear. Excellent wear thus far on both and I can't tell the difference with the Z6 on the rear versus the M1 (However, I must also admit I haven't taken her to the agressive twisties since I switched to the Z6 rear.) Ran the combo in the rain all last week and it handled very well. 1500 miles thus far and wearning like a champ! Chris |

Gowindward, Most of my riding is winding country roads which aren't overly tight (70%) with some freeway (20%) and some twisty stuff (10%). I tend to gas hard out of the turns so the sides get more use than the middle. Overall I tend to get more miles as I am smoother with the throttle than most people. As for road conditions, they are decent but there are potholes which I avoid for the most part. The surfaces can range from brand new smooth to rough slurry stuff. I think it is the variety of roads and the fact that I don't go 500 miles on a freeway straight up all the time that helps. Finally I keep the tire pressures fairly consistent...check it each week and whenever the temperatures change significantly (even during a ride)...that helps too. |
