since my 5,000 mile service was coming up, and the rear Dunlop was shot, i decided to go ahead and drop some cash. New M1s, powdercoated wheels and sprocket, Jardine, K&N, 12 airbox, Race ECM, and Odie's heatshield. A few rattle cans and headaches later, its done. I couldn't be more pleased with the turnout of the wheels, and i like the sound of the jardine. Thanks to DaveS, Odie, and Sammigs for the parts and sound advice, and to the rest of badweb for all the invaluable info... thanks Glitch for helping w/ posting the pics thanks, james (Message edited by whitetrashxb on March 07, 2005) |

when i tried to post them here, they were too big. I tried a search for the topic of shrinking pics, but couldn't find exact instructions, and my computer literacy is nothing to brag about, so if you can tell me how.... thanks, james |

James, What kind of paint was used on the center part of the fairing? |

Duplicolor makes paint in several colors that is supposed to make metal look 'annodized', once you put it ontop of some type of basecoat. I started using this paint for a few coats, but it didn't stick very well, so the last few coats were 'regular' Duplicolor, Bahama Blue i think, from the autoparts store. |

Nice work. Might have to put new PowderCoat for the wheels on the "Must do" list! |

Killer wheels. They are very sweet. I am really tempted to paint mine. How did you do it? Did you send them to a professional or did you do it yourself? Again, looks great. |

The blue wheels really makes your bike look bada$$! Wow, I was never really a fan of white plastic until I saw those pics with the blue wheels. |

I am looking to do my race bike rims black instead of having different colored rims (silver and Gold). Roughly how much are you looking at to get them powder coated. They both look really nice guys!!!

Who did you use for powder coating? |

I had mine painted by a fellow 3%er (Silverbullet). About $125 a wheel and you don't have to replace the bearing due to the heat from powdercoating. Just the mounting hardware (one time usage). Shred, had his powdercoated and I think it was $300 or so not counting the bearings and mounting hardware. Turned out way better than I thought it would.

Sunshine- black was my next choice.... looks good. there are a few shops here locally that do the powdercoating. I bought the tires and had them mounted at a shop that mainly deals w/ Aprillas. They referred me to a shop they used several times for powdercoating. Total cost was $75 a wheel, $20 for the sprocket. The added labor of masking off the lips of the wheel added a few $$... thanks for all the compliments, the next thing i plan to upgrade is my own riding skills... hope to do a few track days this spring... thanks, james |

James, Your bike looks awesome. We should definitely get together to go riding now that you have the wheels back on and the clutch fixed (I assume). Let's do Dirty's this Thursday night. I think the weather is supposed to be good. I also get to ride to my parents this weekend out to West Texas. Should be fun. Let me know if you want to go Thursday. Call me or send me an email. Marc |
