What kind of mileage are you folks getting? I had to fill up at 100 miles yesterday. My bike is new so I am hoping that this improves. | ||

Yeah it'll get better after break in. I average about 50 or 55 mpg. | ||

I have a 2003 XB9S with about 10,000 miles. If I take it easy I get 52-54mpg, when I ride hard it doesn't change that much 48-50mpg. | ||

hmm. I've got a bit over 1,000 miles on the bike now and I've got to fill up right around 100-110 miles, last tank was 37 mpg??? half city half highway. Seems kinda low, but I'm a big boy and the bike is still breaking in, so I'll wait an' see! later, Nick | ||

Yea. I'm at 100 so I'll keep you posted. My reserve light also came on and when I fill up the tank only took 2.5 gallons. 3.7 gallons with a .7 reserve. seems like it would have hit 3 gallons before the light came on. | ||

My fuel light comes on with 1.1 gallons left in the tank. Every time. Best MPG ever: 66mpg (July 04, going uphill, doing the speed limit in the Rockies) Worst MPG ever: 39mpg (July 02, doing 110mph on I-25 in WY till the fuel light came on) Bike is stock with the exception of a K&N filter, 16K on the clock. | ||

My light is the same as Chain's it comes on with exactly 1.1 left. That is usually at about 110-120 miles, so I think I could get about 160-170 on a tank. | ||

I don't think the 3.7 gallon fuel capacity is 100% accurate. I believe it is closer to 3.4 gallons. Anyone disagree? | ||

Personally I would like clarity in what is meant by "reserve" and how that compares to when the light comes on. All I know is the capacity is supposedly 3.7, the light comes on, and I have never been able to add more than 2.6 gallons if I get fuel right after the light comes on. Assuming the light comes on with what is said to be reserver that should be 3 gallons. However I don't know for sure. I for one would like a definitive answer on what the capacity of the tank really is... | ||

I get 200 kilometers (123 miles) when the fuel light comes on, and I'm getting panicky at 260 kilometers(160 miles)from of my 03 XB9R with 12,000 km (7,500 miles) | ||

I would think that the 9 would get better mileage then the 12, which bikes do you have. I have a 9 and with the current price increase in gas I am soooo glad it is getting warm. | ||

Hmmm, I have an XB9S. When I was breaking it in, I was afraid to tell anyone, but I was getting 65-67 MPG. That was keeping it under 55 MPH, and mostly West Texas riding...meaning no traffic... I ride with the Harley riders in Korea now. I don't watch my odometer, but my clock. The Sportys always gas up before the big twins or myself. I wait to gas up until the guys on the big twins fill up, and I always put less in my bike than theirs. So, I am guessing I am still in the 50s, at least. As for the 60s MPG, on another thread the XBs were getting 60 plus MPG. I am sure MPG will vary depending on weight, speed, weather, wind, etc, but I think the Buells get great gas mileage. The only bikes I have had that got better were the old one-lungers (single cylinder). I think we have a great little performing bike that also gets great gas mileage  Cyko Bob  | ||

I agree the mileage is great...in fact it is amazing for the size of the motor. I just would like to know what the true RANGE is before I really should be getting concerned. I am considering getting a few little fuel bottles from a buddy of mine and bringing them along until I run out of gas so I know how much fuel I really have available. What I don't know is if running out is bad...in some cars there is protection in place to keep the fuel system from loosing its prime. Does anyone know if our XBs have this same protection? | ||

I'm consistently over 50 mpg with K&N, 12 airbox, and a Jardine. I've bought mine brand new in the summer of '03 and have right around 12K miles. | ||

I believe it is closer to 3.4 gallons. Anyone disagree? Well...I've never run my XB out of gas. Most I've ever put in is 3.4 gallons. I would tend to believe that the capacity is accurate, and the fuel reserve light just comes on too soon. I wouldn't think there is any benefit for a manufacturer to list fuel capacity inaccurately. Less fuel cap. = less weight: Less weight is a selling point, right?  | ||

I used to get about 120 to the tank....Highway and City. Now with the TFI, I get about 100 miles to a tank city and 120 highway. Those numbers are when the gas light comes on. I always get get asap. | ||

Has anyone filled up and noticed it took more than 3.4 gallons? I ride in very rural areas where gas stations a few and far between, so it's good to know how much range I have. | ||

On my 9R I get about 46 to 48 miles to a gallon. I think it's mostly because I hotrod it a little every time I ride it. That's with race ecm, K&N filter, and race pipe. | ||

ON MY XB9S STOCK THE FUEL LIGHT WOULD COME ON ABOUT 145 MILES ALLWAYS ABOUT 2.7 GAL. AFTER DRUMMER,RACE FILTER, ECM AND 12 AIR BOX. IT WOULD COME ON ABOUT 125 MILES. TRUE REASON I LIKED THE IMPROVED POWER AND SOUND. AFTER THE MODS IT WOULD PULL FRONT WHEEL AT ABOUT 3500 IN FIRST GEAR BY CRACKING THE GAS AND I WEIGH 230 LBS | ||

i have gone as far as 156 miles on a tank. that time it took just a hair under 3 gallons. dont usually run the tank that low, but average between 52 and 55 miles per gallon. but then mine is a 12, so this information may be useless to you. | ||

I have a great reserve tank for my XB9R, its in my brother's S3T Buell tank and I bring along a siphon hose, It works well. | ||

For you guys working in SI units of measurement, my Fuel Light always comes on ~200km and it takes roughly 10L. I have never put more than 12L in the bike. | ||

Ok. That alot of info. So it seems that the light comes on around 1.1 left. That makes more sense for the claimed capacity. I don't really care about the gas mileage but as some have said it is nice to know your range. Guess I need to carry some fuel with me and run it out. Then I'll know for sure. |
