Just removed the Vapor Vent Canister from my CA model XB9SL. Plugged the return to the throttle body, and ran a straight tube out the bike as per the "rest of the world" models. Took it for a ride, parked it in the garage and noticed a good amount of gas smell... Looked the the vent tube and see a few drops dribblin' out. Tank is almost empty too. Is this right? Can't imagine what it's gonna do if the tank is full? TIA Kaveman BTW: Does the vent in the airbox have a check valve in it? |

I removed my canister as well. I plugged the port right on the throttle body and pulled all the tubing out. I left the rubber hose off the check valve open after pulling the tubing out of it and let it end right behind the air box cover. I did not extend it. There is a check valve under the air box cover. It prevents liquid fuel from getting to and messing up the canister. It should have some sort of a float in it to prevent any liquid fuel getting to the canister but it may only prevent fuel coming out during a massive over fuel fill or a tip over. |

I did the same on mine and it seems to stink only when low on fuel. xbolt12 |
