With the 0/0/0 deal from Buell, now may be a good time to jump on this crazy train. I need to hear from anyone who has gotten a good price from a dealer on XB's in Central Texas/Austin/Houston area. If I had my druthers I wouldn't hesitate to go to Dave S. but I'm not sure how to get it down here plus I was leaning towards the City-X and I don't see one on his inventory listing. |

I hear that Austin Harley-Davidson near Onion Creek is pretty good. I don't know if they have any City-Xs. I have taken my bike to Central Texas, but their Buell support is not great. I have not been to Austin Harley since I bought my Buell, but i know that Whitetrash is familiar with them, ask him for his opinion. |

The Woodlands may be the way to go.... I know that Cen-Tex has a number of XB's on the lot, but I haven't tried to negotiate... hopefully this post will at least give me a direction to start. I can go to Stillwater but its just a bit closer to Houston. However, If I can save some $$$, It might make the trip worthwhile. (Message edited by Madbandito on February 28, 2005) |

Austin Buell are good people. You want to talk with Todd. He is the "Buell guy" for them and rides a XB9s. Just tell him Buelliedan from san Antonio sent you and told him to give you a good deal!! |

Woodlands if you live in Houston... BUT I bought my first bike '03 H-D FXDWG from Rick Strupkis at Battley Cycles in Rockville, MD. AWESOME GUY! He now works at Austin HD...if you go visit him tell him Nick Elison (from Houston, from Maryland) sent you...he'll take care of you as well!!! Rick is a good straight shooter. Won't BS you. If you DO end up going to The Woodlands Buell, my saleswoman was Diedra, and she was a pleasure to work with as well. I walked in named my price, and that was it. Best o' luck! Nick |

Madbandito, I was at Austin H-D in November, they seemed like a really Buell friendly dealer. If I remeber right they had a few city-x's on the show room floor when I was there. I would give your local dealer a chance, because they will be the dealer you have to go to for service. Remember they can always let your bike sit and say they are working on it. Their price was at MSRP which I think most dealers are keeping their prices on the new bikes. |

I bought my 2003 XB9S from Javelina H-D in Boerne, about a year ago. Chris Baker was the salesman. I am not going to say they are Buell oriented, but I got what I thought was a good deal at the time. Goe H-D near Houston, was offering the XB9 on the web for $7995 plus tax and all. When I went to Javelina and told them what Goe had, they immediately dropped the price a $1000 and told me they would sell it to me out the door (taxes and all) for $7995. I believe Daves can sell you one cheaper, but I don't know what you think about the distance from Texas, etc...might even be cheaper including shipping charges. I also don't know about setup either if you had one shipped to you. Dave could answer those types of questions. Cyko Bob |

I bought both of our Buells at Austin HD. They used to have Buell sales guys that knew the bikes well and were really into it. They now seems to all sell both hd and buell. As far as the sales experience goes, they were pretty good. It was pretty much hassle free. They did not offer to set up the suspension. As far as the service goes, it is generally a real pain to deal with them. They have a few good service guys, but the manager can be a real problem. Getting the bearings done on my bike was a real hassle. I never could get them to do the sidestand even after Buell CS told them to do it. They could never seem to get the part in stock, or so they told me. I had planned to let them do all the service on my bike. Since I dealt with them a couple of times, I've decided to do the service myself. It is just not worth the hassle for me to deal with people who are really not interested in providing good customer service. |

Bulliedan- Todd was THE Buell salesguy at Austin HD, an all-around good guy, but unfortunately he moved to Tennessee a couple of months ago, so as far as salesguys over there, i'm not sure.. For their service, my 'bolt is actually there right now getting the friction plates and clutch hub replaced under warranty. Other than replacing the speedo sensor, this is the only service they've performed on my bike. I was told one of their techs ride a 'bolt, but i'll try to do most of the basic/routine service myself.... like Cyko, i got my 03 xb9r from Chris at Javelina HD. They definately aren't Buell oriented, but that could be the reason for the good deal i got. When i decided for sure i wanted a bike, i printed a list of all dealerships off the Buell site in the states of Tx and Louisiana. I then went down the list, calling each one to ask if they had one on the floor and what they were willing to take for it. For me it's a no-brainer to drive a few hours if i can save a wad. So when it was all said and done, Javelina had the left over '03, and were asking $1000 less than the next lowest quote. Only about an hour and 15 minutes away, i bought it without even riding it,and the ride back home thru the hill country gave me the greatest feeling ever... by the way, last weeks Cycle Trader had an ad from Sante Fe HD, showing 03 xb9's for $6500 plus freight and set up... hope this helps, james |

Yeah, I would like to thank everyone for their input on this.... My big concern is not only the bike purchase itself, but the service after the sale.... I don't know why there are so few Buell/HD dealers around these parts that actually give a rat's behind about how the customer is treated after the bike rolls off the lot. Now I understand why the BTM, RTFM cries are so significant. We have Zabors in Austin that I believe to be one of the best shops in the state for UJM maintenance....I trust Paul Z to do me right and he has yet to let me down. Too bad there isn't an underground movement (if seldom needed)for reliable Buell mechanics. (Message edited by Madbandito on March 01, 2005) |

Paul at Zabor's even did the machining on my Norton when I rebuilt the engine. I agree that Zabor's is great for maintenance. I think most of us around Austin do as much maintenance on our Buells as we can because the service departments at both dealers is not great. I only take mine to the shop for big, big stuff. But both of my brothers are also trained mechanics for Harley and Buell. I guess I'm lucky. |

I worked at a kawi dealership for a little over a year learning how to turn wrenches on bikes. While that doesn't make me even a marginally expert bike wrench I have pretty good mechanical skills-I built most of the streetrods I have driven for the last 27 years. I have every intention of buying the FM and the PM in order to do as much of the maintenance myself. (Message edited by Madbandito on March 01, 2005) |
