2010 1125R 60,000 KLMS Was about to go for a fun ride. Just left home 2nd gear and the rear wheel locks. Took it out of gear and tried to start, but did not want to crank, looked at the instruments, and showed a COMMON PROBLEM. Can anyone please shine some light on what may have happened to the beast? | ||

My guess is you ate a valve. Take it apart, then you will know. | ||

You’re leaving out a lot of info that would be required to make an educated guess. Does it still turn over, electronics still on, really say common problem? I’ve seen COMM ERR before thus the question. Steve might be right but he likes to turn it to 11, while I’ve often times found it to be a pretty straightforward, simple, and cheap explanation for the problem but we’d need a better description first. | ||

Ceejay, it is a dumb question when the answer is easily discovered. The OP already stated it doesn't turn over. So, pulling a valve cover and looking is not difficult and we are not there, he is. We don't have a crystal ball. | ||

I would opine that "COMM ERR" is Communications Error. A problem with comm buss. | ||

Steve - you know as well as I do folks don’t always convey all the info or write it out in a clear format. I’d agree that if I was cruising along and dropped a valve it’d kill the bike, but as written it seems there is more to heard, thus some clarifying info would help. | ||

1125 Lockup 2 Gear. The nut on the right side of the crankshaft came off, wedged in between the crank and engine case just below the water pump. Having a look at the engine I noticed a large crack under the water pump. Has this nut undoing itself happened to anyone else 1125 | ||

Ouch - that sucks. Haven’t read of it before, but it might be a cheap fix, depending on what your oil looks like, and if the threads on the crank aren’t bad. |
