I have an 1125r which is currently set up as an EBR 1125 DSB that EBR converted it to. I'm trying to sell it, but don't know which form would bring more or be more likely to sell. It only has 2000 miles on it, never been dropped or raced, has all the carbon fiber shells, the racing ECM and muffler, chain drive etc. Much faster but louder, not road legal because no lights, but I saved all the stock stuff so could put it back. I used it on Mythbusters to pull a table cloth out from a banquet. Runs great. In California. |

Put it up on Bringatrailer and be totally honest about the conversion of the bike and the cool Mythbusters history on the bike! You can make a reserve $ amount on it and it’s only $99 to list it for the 7 day auction. EVERYDAY I am shocked at the prices people are paying on some vehicles on there! A 1990 Toyota basic pickup truck( like yours on the show) with 6k miles on it sold for $29,000 the other day! Good to see you here Mr Hyneman, hope you are still rawkin the beret, walrus stache, making cool things, and making mischief! I already have two 1125r’s, so I’m not in the market for yours, but I’m sure someone will be interested due to the history on it and the stock parts for it. Sf Bay Area also, San Carlos here… come on out to the first Monday of the month American Sport Bike Night in Castro valley sometime! Buell or not, all bikes welcome! Yes Skrip, that's the one. Thanks for the tip about Bringatrailer, Wcbrracing. I'll look into that. I'm hesitant about leveraging the celebrity to sell something, but it seems a tidier way to do it as opposed to putting on Ebay or Craigslist etc. |

Any history as to how the bike was put together? Did you provide EBR with an 1125R and they provided the parts and labor for the conversion? Very cool that you jumped on Badweb. Wouldn't hurt to put it in the classifieds section here. I would say it would sell best as it currently is with the stock parts provided. |

EBR sent a team to my shop and they did the conversion to my 1125r. And you're right, no reason not to put it on the classifieds here, and include the original stuff in case someone wants to convert it back. The CF stuff shaves a little weight off, but probably the biggest performance difference comes from the racing ECM. And the racing scoops are problematic if you aren't actually racing because they don't have fans on them so you have to keep moving or shut it down. |

I’d definitely stay away from Craigslist, nothing but looky-loos, people that offer 1/2 asking price, and spammers. eBay is hit or miss on anything, Facebook marketplace might be good to try as well as the classifieds here. With bringatrailer, be upfront, follow the auction comments and respond to the messages and questions. Great community of watchers, posters, buyers, amazing last day and last minute bids and outbids, plus a great sell thru rate with or without reserves! |

I agree with the others above, you get what you pay for with online marketplaces, free ones like Craigslist and Facebook bring a much different clientele than paid services like BAT or Ebay, and different headaches. Free sites are full of time wasters, tire kickers, and low ballers, the paid sites do filter out most of them. While Bring a Trailer does sometimes have a problem of flakey buyers, it isn't as bad as on Ebay. But I do also recommend taking advantage of your fame in the listing, it should bring in more attention (and a higher selling price) being that it is your bike and was used on screen, vs any other random 1125R out there. |

Bringatrailer does permanently ban people who back out after being the winning bidder… and I believe they do contact the second next in line or allow a re-posting with “due to a failed bid completion” in the posting. I haven’t posted a car or bike for sale on there since I tend to buy and never sell items, but I have bid on a few items, never won due to the bids going beyond my own “personal $ limit”. like ive said before, sometimes the final bid price on things is mind boggling due to bidding wars! But like any Internet forum, there are some “interesting people” on there making comments and asking questions, some are funny, some are clueless, some are shit disturbers, but it’s pretty well moderated. Due to the show, the EBR factory upgrades, and your prominence, I’m sure there will be LOTS of comments especially if you post a link to the episode it was used in and or do a walk around/ride video in the same gear or your signature beret! For the bargain $99 to list, and most likely sold in 7 days. plus I wouldn’t be surprised if it far exceeds your $$ expectations or reserve you choose. And you might be surprised what gets listed for sale on there and sells— parts, memorabilia, literature—as well as collections from museums or private collectors that get listed…. If the buell sells, maybe other Mythbuster related things? got any pieces of that cement mixer that you’all blew up in the quarry? That sound is forever etched in my mind! Thanks for all the explosions! (Message edited by Wcbrracing on June 22, 2021) |

https://iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/ This one certainly qualifies. They've had some cool stuff, some stuff with great backstories and unobtainium. NSR750 anyone? Seen 3 on there. |

I had forgotten about iconic, definitely some VERY COOL AND RARE bikes in the “completed sales” on there…. Lots of low production special edition Italian and Japanese bikes , lots of odd bikes made by companies/people I’ve never heard of! On that “odd bike” theme, I’m Still searching for a Gurney Alligator

James h. Speaking of auctions, have you considered Mecum Motorcycle Auctions? They have a really big one in Las Vegas at the beginning of each year. But looking into it, it looks like there is one coming to Monterey in August. They like bikes that have a verifiable history to them and yours definitely qualifies. You might want to look into it. https://www.mecum.com/motorcycles/ |

Hi Guys, Thanks again for the advice. I'll probably reach out to the bringatrailer folks and give that a shot- seems like a more compact thing- in and out and is a local outfit. |

Saw you posted it on Sf bay Craigslist, guess BAT wasn’t for you or the bike wasn’t for them. Good luck with the sale, hope the Craigslist loonies/tire kickers/time wasters stay away! |
