Is there a trick to getting coolant fill right? New motor has blown out all or most twice in last two days. Temps here mild. Also see no oil in site glass. Yet I put 3qts in. Have just over 100 miles on motor now. Sounds ok. All I see is blown out coolant on muffler, so it's coming out overflow hose. |

Thought abt it some more. Lack of oil In site glass really bothered me. So I changed oil and filter. Used my last K&N 564. Much better indicators now. See oil in site glass. Bike warmed up much slower. Put a little coolant in fill pipe. Filled reservoir with water, it was just empty. Filter that was in looked ok, maybe it was a dummy. Will give it a rip tomorrow. Too tired now. |

I think I put in over 3 quarts to get correct indication on oil dipstick. This was years ago. |

Thanks John, The '09 motor took 3qts easy. This '10 motor starts to over flow fill hole just before 3qts. Weird I'm in Santa Cruz, maybe can get together and tell true tales of the road. |

Hi Richard, Yes, the Helicon engine with its dry-sump oiling system with oil carried in a lower left side of the crankcase, but the oil dipstick on the right side on the engine, makes the oil level check a tricky process. No wonder the slight glass was added to the final few 2010 models. I over the hill in silicon valley. Maybe we can get together sometime and tell true tales of the road. |
