The original front rotor mounting hardware kit consisted of four separate components. The bolt, drive bushing, bushing washer and spring. The improved front rotor mounting hardware kit (CQ0001.11AZ) consists of six separate components but it has no springs in kit. Do you need to use the springs with the improved kit? My guess is no but to be honest I don’t truly remember the purpose of the spring. I have changed out a front rotor in the past and I just cleaned the hardware and springs and reused. Can’t remember how the springs function. I have a new front rim and I am trying to make sure that I mount new rotor correctly. Any explanation of do I need to use the springs with improved mounting kit and what the spring does exactly Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

http://www.erikbuellracing.net/store/models/1125r/ front-brake-rotor-mounting-kit.html You have the "EBR mounting kit" It is a good upgrade and does not use springs. |

Shoggin, thanks for the response. I am going to purchase the rotor mounting hardware kit from EBR. I actually need a few of them just wish they weren’t so expensive. I was talking to the girl at EBR yesterday, can’t think of her name right now, she said they have lots of kits but she couldn’t answer my question about the springs and was going to check with the guy that does the ordering. She did say that the spring ( Front rotor ) part# H0505.02A8 was not in the database. Must be because once they had the improved kit they did not stock the original four piece rotor mounting hardware kit that uses the spring. All three years of 1125 parts manual show the same four piece rotor mounting hardware. I will drop her a message and say that you don’t use the springs with the new kit in case another dummy like me calls looking for springs. I appreciate the clarification it seems like a simple question to answer but when I see a partial rotor mounting hardware kit on SPHD website that has the springs then I started questioning. So there are actually 4 different kits or set ups. The original four piece 1125 rim kit. The improved six piece 1125 rim kit. The five piece 1190 rim kit and the decked 1125 rim set up like they used in DSB. Now I know way too much and not enough about rotor mounting hardware. I get that with the improved mounting kit you get more rotor to rim contact effectively using the rim as a heat sink to help dissipate excessive rotor heat and the spring would not be needed. Makes sense now. Thanks, Jeff |
