Well I was hoping EBR was going to develop a Uly with the 1190 motor, doesn't seem feasible at this point. And as much as I love my 1125R, I need a bike that is much better at two up riding. I am considering the 2015 Aprilia Caponord ABS Travel Pack and 2012 & newer Ducati Multi 1200S. If anyone has personal ownership experience with either of these bikes I would like to hear your opinions on them. |

I rode the Multi on a Ducati Demo Day. The route was in and around Austin. It is plenty fast but I found it rough and shakey especially at low RPMs, and it is hot - kind of uncivilized. I didn't like it much, in case that isn't obvious, and it was huge bucks. My brother has the exact Aprilia you're considering which I've ridden many thousands of miles. We do two multi-day, long tours every year and swap bikes. The Capo is much more comfortable and civilized. Great seat. Electronically damped suspension that really works. It is a torquer of a motor that launches dramatically out of corners. Over all it is a very fun ride. We lowered the counter-shaft sprocket one tooth because it is geared very highly from the factory. This improved ride-ability noticeably. Otherwise he left it entirely stock. He has about 30K miles on it now. There are some recurring maintenance quirks with both bikes. Read all the details on the Aprilia in the AF1Racing forum. (https://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.p hp?106-2014-2017-Caponord-1200). I know there are good Ducati fora in existence but I don't follow them to make a recommendation. Maintenance on both bikes will be expensive as most operations are elaborate and will need to be done by the dealer unless you are very ambitious. If you have a decent dealer of either brand nearby, that would be a consideration. If you are near Austin, AF1Racing is the best dealership in the world, hyperbole aside. |

Paul, thanks for your take on both bikes. What year was the Duc you rode? |

A 2016 Multi I believe. My buddy insists on photo documenting everything. Here's a pic of my idiot smile for year confirmation:
And for the sake of fairness, 2015 Capo:

How difficult would it be to transplant the 1125 engine into the Uly frame? :P Nice jacket btw Pwillikers. |

I've heard of people keeping the frame but swapping front suspension and tail section. That would be a badass 2 up bike! |

As I recall from years ago on this site it has been done at least once. I agree that it would be a great combination. I love the look of the Uly and it is extremely comfortable to ride. But it really needs the extra HP and I much prefer the 1125 gearbox to the XB. |
