How common is it for these to break? Bike has about 30,000+ miles. Where is the cheapest place to purchase one?  No burn outs, now wheelies, (ever). I was gently pulling away from a stop light in traffic. | ||

It happens, they get old, some change them out at 20k You could get a used belt on Fleabay for around 140 or so, put up a wanted ad in the classifieds. or get a new belt from St Paul Harley https://st-paul-harley-davidson-buell.myshopify.co m/products/g0500-1amg-genuine-buell-drive-belt-200 8-2010-1125r-only-u8a (Message edited by xbpete on April 19, 2019) | ||

They are lifetime like the headlight bulbs or handle bar grips are lifetime. They don't have a scheduled replacement interval, just when worn or broken. I personally do about 25k before swapping a belt out. | ||

Watch your rear wheel bearings if you sling a new, tight belt on. I had a bearing failure shortly after changing to a new belt. I believe there was a correlation. I didn't catch the bearing failure in time and ruined the rear wheel. Edit--The sign of my bearing failure that I mis-interpreted was an unusual screetching/squeeling noise that started to manifest itself when leaned over to the left and worsened very shortly before the bearing completely blew up. Mine broke at 8K and 16K miles, coming up to 24K now so have bought a new one just in case. | ||

The manual says to replace them every 10k. I only have about thirty miles on my bike since I bought it two years ago, took and passed the HD safety course, but having ignition issues right now. Just want it fixed. | ||

The manual also says you need to remove the oil cooler before you remove the left side engine case. The real word is, all you have to do is, disconnect the oil line going to the cooler. I had almost 25,000 plus mileage on my drive belt before I replaced it, only because it was old. | ||

I got about 28,000 on mine before I had to replace it. It didn't break. SOmething took a chunk out of it. I LOVE the belt design of the 1125R and so does every one of my buddies who have to clean their chains. So what's the deal with belts? Are they going to become obsolete at some point? It would suck to be get grounded because you can't get a belt....I guess all my buddies who have to clean their chain have that advantage. (Message edited by fresnobuell on April 21, 2019) | ||

I apollogize, I can't find it in the manual, I know I read it somewhere. On table 1.1 in the manual, it says to inspect the rear pulley and belt at every maintenance interval. If iI remember, there's a youtube video that says to replace it every 10k. again I apologize for misleading information. | ||
