Sure the answer is already here but so much to read and im now confused. On my 08 i now get system voltage error when starting. Once its running its fine, no issue riding at all. Any ideas?
How do i get the ic to display the voltage so i can see what thats doing?
Its kept on a tender, by end of long day of short runs it sometimes takes a few cranks to start, but think thats just down to the short hops.
Starter relay?
Thanks

A couple of questions, how old is the battery, did you check all of the ground wires connections? To see the voltage, press and hold the toggle and mode buttons on IC at the same time while you turn the key to the on position, then you can scroll through them menu to you see live data, at some point you will see the voltage. I am just guessing for what it is worth, but I would check the start relay under the seat with the other 4 relays.

Thanks for the reply, just had chance to have a first quick look. Battery seems fine charging and seems to be holding said charge from tender. Relays look on no obvious signs from a quick visual. Will get out on a decent ride with the voltage showing on ic and let you know what comes back. Maybe just a gremlin seems to still ride fine. : )

Sorry for the delay all, ended up away with work for a bit. Anyway checked battery voltages at each condition and come back with...
Off=13.54v (just off tender)
Idle=13.92v
4000rpm=13.73v
How does this look/ sound?
Many thanks...

Looks ok. I'd run it and keep an eye out.

The charging voltage at 4K could be a bad connection to the VR. Low voltage is usually the positive side, high voltage is the ground side or a bad VR.
Checked all connectors and connections to the battery? go ahead and remove the VR to clean it's mounting points. Why not, its free: )

How old is battery?, what is the voltage when cranking?...need a meter to attach to the battery to obtain that measurement...or take the battery to the auto parts store and have it load tested...volts are not amps... you need amps to turn the starter

Battery must be 3/4 yrs old gel type. Could be that. Like today, fired up on the first touch of the button this morning. Coming home took three decent 'cranks' to get started. Will clean up the connections and get the battery tested next. Thanks for the suggestions guys
