Hey guys I have an 08 1125r with 7500 miles on it and I'm having charging problems. I replaced the regulator with a mosfet regulator, still had problems so I installed a Rick's stator about 6 weeks later. The next day riding to work the battery light and check engine light came on. I rode it to an autoparts store and they told me the battery was fine just a little light on juice but he said the bike wasn't charging. Could it be a bad ground somewhere? Could I have put something together wrong? The battery isn't super old but I rode around with charging issues for a while and did run it dead once but charged it full right after. Any help is appreciated. |

Unless you changed your charging rotor to the 2009 / 2010 rotor the Ricks stator isn’t going to work correctly with the 2008 rotor. They only make them for the 2009 and later system. |

At first I bought the one for 09-10 (21-026h) then it wouldn't fit my rotor so I bought the one for 08 (21-027) and it fit perfectly |

Any ideas? |

I'd do the routine steps. - ensure the battery is good w/ good connections - as i recall, the 08 models had a parasitic drain... something w/ the instrument cluster? need to rule that out i guess - next, i'd check stator output. you'll need a multimeter. - see pic below from there .. i'm not sure - Bad VR? - Bad ground? - bad plug/ connections (Message edited by bubba_ on October 11, 2018) |

when i'm riding.. i routinely switch the display over to battery output/ coolant temp. have you looked at that?.. I typically see around 14.2- 14.8 volts while riding. I have a 2009. output is bit higher on the 09s the charging system trouble shooting info is available in the 1125R electrical manual. I've heard some say its available at buellmods dot com.. |

Thanks for the info. I don't think the 08 has a battery output readout. If I have a bad ground somewhere would that stop the stator from charging? |

Before doing the AC tests that Bubba posted, do this resistance test first. With the ignition off disconnect the stator wires and if any of the stator leads has a resistance other than infinity to ground, the stator is faulty and charging will be compromised. |

good idea Sparky another tip... see the "Google Buell 1125R Forum" link at the top of the page? you can search pretty much any of these topics and there usually is a ton of helpful info (trust me, i've done it myself eleventy billion times lol) |
