I searched and no luck (granted on my phone) Would an exhaust from an 1190 fit up to the 1125 engine and mounting points without modification? Local guy is parting out his 1190 after destroying his 2nd engine block after squeezing too much juice out at the track. Factory race exhaust apparently. |

might want to ask your question on the Buell Racing section on the general forum |

Someone on here has done it, and I think it was fairly straightforward. IIRC they wanted to get the rads from an EBR which required an exhaust change. I'm pretty sure it was/is a bolt on item - rads too, and shouldn't require any other mods, unless you wanted the secondary can. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/762463.html |

ohhhh k - questions for you mate! Do the headers straight bolt up without any modifications required of the 1190 pipework? I have comparison images and the bolt patterns on the block (on the front cylinder at least) appear a match. Are the mount points of the 1125 compatible with the exhaust? Did you have to relocate the oil cooler? Any other tidbits you have handy would be great! (i always assumed that word was titbit ha!) |

Neil, The problem is not the exhaust on either the ii125 or the 1190. They both work very well. The number one issue on the 1125 is heat. The radiators direct waste air inwards toward the frame, engine and fuel tank causing all kinds of nasty issues. The 1190 has corrected most of that issue and Jorge has addressed the issue to his credit. This was not a bolt on conversion. Good job Jorge! Tell us how it works. |

I've experienced the intense heat soak many a time. If i had the funds I'd be grabbing the whole cooling system, oil cooler, and exhaust from this guy - he'd already mentioned he'd throw the oil cooler and brackets in with the exhaust for free. AUD$1000 for the full system seems like a good deal... my minister of war and finance never agrees |

The 1190 exhaust routs the same way the 1125 does except for the front header. The 1190s comes straight down and the 1125 out to the right. Other than that it is the same as fat as mounting goes. I did have to modify the old oil cooler mounts to clear the exhaust, you only need to round off the mount on the right side of the bike like in the first pic. I ended up doing both so it actually looked proportional. All the 1190s have this done to both sides except for they didnt paint it. I started this mod a long time ago and had to wait for the 1190 parts to be available. I bought all the parts new at full price right when the 1190s hit the street. I was well into the 4k range on this, the cooling system at MSRP was around $1800. If you have a person selling you everything for $1000 AUD, roughly $740 USD JUMP ON IT!!!! man that would be such a bargain! I went with the 1190 cooling system because I realized on my own the 1125s was crap and more of an afterthought. I also thought it was stupid to dump all that hot air back into the bike. Also I wanted to make the bike slimmer with custom body work and finish it off right, I did not want it all to look like it was just slapped together. You will need to find a place for the ECU on this, if you go the 1190 route there will be no mounting for it in the stock location. You could make a bracket and leave it there but you will be dumping heat on it. I decided to put mine in the tail but that requires extending the wiring harness. Putting it in the dash area would be the same. You can put it in the airbox as well but thats a route I didnt like.

Where did the 1190 ECU reside? |

The 1190 ECM is under the seat, where it should have stayed and never been stuffed under the radiator shroud on the 1125. |

Would the 1190 motor bolt right up into the frame without modification? |

I have not done it, but the engine castings are exactly the same, so it stands to reason the mounting points will also be the same. The biggest differences is the shower injectors and the air box that accommodates them. Then there is the cooling system and the exhaust, but those are all external to the basic motor. |

So let's see the final version. The pic above is an "in progress" picture, right? Trying to wrap my head around spending $4,000+ as well as all the time/effort.... |

^^^ Exactly. I doubt I'll do it, just can't justify the funds (or find them!). I can ride around the cooling issues - like 1) avoid really hot days 2) take a route that i know i can stretch the bikes legs & get fresh air 3) carry one of those mini jump starters in my bag for when i get caught out and the bike has run too long on battery alone and wont restart I love what ace has done, its what the bike should have been but all the same i'm hesitant to move my bike away from its standard position given the bikes rarity in Australia (10 model with aus spec'd fairings). An exhaust swap out is fine as you keep the original. The bike really isn't valuable yet, its definitely a long term'r. Not sure if this will open for you guys - but bloke has had this up for sale for easily a year with little interest. Price dropped from $12k down to $9k, with only 3,000kms (1800 miles) on the clock. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mount-barker/motor cycles/buell-1125r-2010/1186675521 Do you see a bike that is 8 years old and only ridden a couple thousand k's as an equal risk to quite high kms given its probably been under-serviced? My bike when picked up had only 7,000kms on it, and it was running like a pig. Old fuel, gummed plugs, old oil. |

I love the 1125R. Unfortunately,it's a one trick pony, which is riding hard and fast in the twisties because it a fantastic bike to ride in this manner and it largely gets around the heat and charging deficiencies. This is perfectly fine with me, because I have no desire to commute or ride in the City..... There is no resale value for our bikes, so I am in the "ride it hard until it dies" mode. Then I will more than likely buy a Ducati Supersport S or a BMW S1000R. |

S1000R how nice would integrated cruise control be!!! I think if I end up relocating for work to Sydney I will keep this but buy a 2nd bike to commute into the CBD. Parking for motorcycles is pretty cheap in structures, around $7 for the whole day. I'm really loving not having to do any chain maintenance so a belt drive would be the aim. HD Roadster? |

OMG. Cruise control! All ride by wire bikes should have it... And I WILL miss the belt big time when I move on from the Buell. |

The Triumph Bobber Black has cruise control. There is a belt conversion kit around for it. Killer is - standard wheels are tubed. Am i crazy or is that uncommon? |

I thought they only used tubes in spoked wheels? |

so its common for spokes. The bobber gets spokes Any negatives with a tubed tyre?

Barraspaulding, the negatives of a tubed tire are a reduction of the speed rating of the tire (around 10% IIRC) and the necessity of removing the assembly and removing the tube to do even an emergency flat repair. A tubeless tire with a puncture can usually be plugged from the outside as a temporary measure. |

Finally had the time to finish my project. Still some things to get done to be 100% complete but I just hooked it all up to fire up. Relocated the ECU to the tail and extended the wiring harness. Link to my FB video post, couldnt shrink it down to post here. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=371959380199313&id=100021557627221¬if_t=feedback_reaction_generic¬if_id=1556018016994687&ref=m_notif
