After some tips from members experienced in removing decals from their rides. The big decal applied to the oem fairing is just plain horrible, and i'm not really a fan of the asymmetrical decal on the front fairing either. Will post up a pic shortly Is a heat gun, a razor blade and persistence all that is required? | ||

A heat gun on low and no razor blade. Goo gone to remove residue and Novus to polish it back to shine(if molded plastic) | ||

GooGone can literally melt certain plastics, such as wind screens. It happened on my XB9R clear wind screen. Please test it out on the back side of any plastic on which it is to be used. That decal may cover scratches  (Message edited by mog on June 11, 2018) | ||

You can use denatured alcohol or WD40 instead to remove the residue. Definitely do not use Goo Gone on clear plastics. (Message edited by terrys1980 on June 11, 2018) | ||

Left my 1125 out in the sun on a hot day, like 25C. That big thick sticker on the airbox cover just peeled off. Residue came off with plastic cleaner. | ||

I would urge you to keep them on. Or swap fairings with someone, as those are a very limited factory set of decals. | ||

Not talking about the airbox decals, every bike had those. The fairing decals that Barraspalding is looking to remove were extremely rare. IIRC, they were for Australia only and for only one model year. I'm sure there are many that would gladly work something out for a swap. I actually might be interested if still fully intact. | ||

I had an idea; A old work colleague's husband runs a business fabricating custom carbon fibre products, amazingly only 10 minutes from home. I might float the idea and get a rough price on fabricating copy fairings out of CF. Highly expect this to come back WAY too expensive but worth asking to be sure. If it was to work I could pack up the originals and keep them safe for stock spec sake come time to sell. May even have to buy extra's to make a mould price viable  | ||

They don't have to be CF, FG is just fine. These fairings make all the difference in the world for appearance. Please include a belly pan. | ||

Agreed, but this bloke only deals with CF. The likely result is i'll do nothing as the minister of war and finance will not see this in the same positive light I'm hesitant to cover too much more of the engine area up - in summer this bike really suffers from heat soak and i'm yet to do anything about resolving the HD bandaid harness that reduces charging phases when the bikes gets hot. | ||

Please note that fairing or otherwise, excessive heat is a real problem with the 1125. One of the things EBR did when racing them was to remount the radiators so the exhaust air was directed outboard instead of inboard. The same thing could be done with these side fairings. |
