Hey guys, I have looked on the forum but can't find anything...anyone know the size of the IAC tube and suggest a place to get a foot of it? I changed out my spark plugs and noticed the tube is completely missing. I am guessing it happened when I high sided a couple years ago or perhaps it just fell off a some point. Sucks to have the gaping hole in the bottom of the airbox. You might want to pull your air filter and see if your IAC tube is still intact (then hope it's still connected under the throttle body.) be careful if you try and make one...the hose comes very close to throttle body linkage. | ||

LOL. @ Nuts. I went to Autozone and bought some pieces to try to improvise. Came home, took a long look to see if my parts might work and ultimately decided the hose is too close to the throttle body linkage for a "custom" made part. Thanks for the heads up! So I ordered a couple hoses from Lance. Thanks Lance for the quick shipping. It should be here in time for this weekend. Anyhow, I know the IAC has something to do with the idle control. Duh. Can someone tell me exactly what this system does? I assume it opens a valve to allow more air to be sucked in the motor when the bike is struggling to maintain proper idle? I believe my IAC hose has been disconnected for a LONG time. I haven't had any obvious idling issues...so I am kinda confused at what this thing actually does. At this point, I am most upset at riding around with a 1/2 inch hole at the bottom of my airbox sucking unfiltered air. (Message edited by fresnobuell on May 22, 2018) | ||

I found this helpful pic. I now realize a properly functioning IAC is allowing filtered air directly into the throttle bodies when called upon. The plunger on the IAC closes or opens the vent tube coming from the airbox. Sooo, most likely my IAC has been functioning without the tube, it's just been sucking unfiltered air...so now with a missing IAC tube I have had two points of entry of unfiltered air--the hole in the bottom of airbox and the IAC itself. Seems like an pretty big oversight not to have this tube secured on the IAC nipple.  (Message edited by fresnobuell on May 22, 2018) | ||

I just wanted to note that the red circles in the pic above are not the IAC. The IAC is above with the red circles behind the nipple (black circle) facing us. The red circles were already on the pic I stole. I am curious whats in the red circles. Looks like those are tubes that run somewhere. Anyone know? |
