Your instructions direct you to cut the cover? I don't recall that in my directions. I will have to re-read. That makes total sense actually based on my experience with the cover. Still haven't gotten the damn thing on right..... |

Upon review of my instructions, it DID NOT advise to cut the cover. Interesting. |

A few notes after about a dozen or so rides with the QS. I am still getting used to it after so many years of using the clutch. I have to remind myself to NOT rolloff during upshifts. And I have caught a few false neutrals in the higher gears, mainly due to lower RPM and uncrisp shifting on my part. And I found a more sensitive setting on the QS works best for me....meaning having any unintended contact with the shifter will cause the motor to cutout. This would be bad at high lean angles as it definitely unsettles the bike big time. Thankfully, this unintended contact with the shifter happens when I am touring home from the foothills, so while it's startling (especially the FIRST time it happens) it's not really unsafe. But I will tell you. Getting into a tuck and banging thru the gears at WOT is just plain awesome...just make sure you pick the appropriate spots to do so. Like the 1125R, the quickshifter works best when you are riding hard. |

Any one else getting the QS Fireball when low to mid rpm light shifting? Looks and sounds baadass. Ill look through my instructions again, I cant remember for sure now cut vs no mention but my cover got hung up on the large spacer. Quick grinding on the spacer to take some off and it fit without flexing the cover. I love it. Favorite mod so far. WOT no lift shift: https://youtu.be/geNmm2ts6xQ?t=114 |

Are you talking about the exhaust popping? For lack of a better term. Yep, I get it too. I haven't seen it, but it does sound pretty damn cool! |

Hey guys, there was a request to revive this thread with an update on the Quick Shifter. I did my annual oil change before the first ride of the season last weekend. This requires the disconnection of the QS linkage because it blocks the bolt to the oil filter. I will say the weakness of the design is where the linkage connects to the ear that actuates the QS sensor. The nut is captured in the plastic, which prevents it from spinning while you turn the small screw. However, I found it takes very little to strip out the plastic to where the nut just spins. A metal threaded boss instead of the nut would have been a much better design. I am going to try to remember to disconnect the other side of the linkage when necessary as it is a regular screw/nylock nut combo. Anyhow, once I got to the area of my ride that allows me to take advantage of the QS, I let 'er rip and it worked awesome. The shifting seemed smoother than I remember from last Fall. Maybe the fresh Mobil 1 v-twin coursing thru the Helicon's innards made a difference? Don't know. I still highly recommend this QS. |

I had the same problem. Contact Shoggin and he'll likely send you a new part. I happened to run into him in person last year at Buell Dragon Fest and he just handed me one. He said they have been improving the design of that part. |

I'm not an employee of Buelltooth, and sadly have never been to the Dragon (YET!) But I do think they are a stand up company and wouldn't doubt they would take care of you |

I have been able to use a pair of bent needle nose pliers to secure the spinning nut enough to tighten down the screw. Hopefully I will remember to unscrew the other side of the linkage from now on and not mess with this one again. |

Okay, I got my QS in the mail this morning! Thanks Fresnobuell for your input! This is my learning curve. The installation instruction are good. The issues I had, are theses. The spacer that they provide has to big of a OD. If they reduced the OD of the spacer, there would be no need to cut the cover, or grind a flat spot on the spacer. Number 2, they need to clarify if you shifter is in the original spot or has been moved. Thank you Fresnobuell for your learning curve. If you shifter has been lowered from factory settings, you may need to bend the tab, down, If you have changed the shifter up, you may need to bed the tab up as well. The other issue I had was, what direction do I need to turn the linkage to shorten or extend its length? Looking at the shifter, you move your wrench, from the left side of the shifter, to the right side, to shorten the length of the linkage, which makes it more sensitive. I do wish that they sent a wrench that fit the size of the linkage adjustment nut, it would making adjusting the linkage easier. I did use the EcmDroid to adjust the linkage settings. However I needed to shorten the linkage by 1.3mm to get it to work. My review of this QS is this. I give it a WOW factor of 9! Is it worth the money? Give me a couple of weeks of riding to form a real opinion. But at this point, I am giving it a 8 plus on the need to have one scale. (Message edited by willmrx on April 22, 2019) |

QS help. @#%*^&! I have everything installed, and my phone is able to connect with the buelltooth. I can change settings, view live data so I know it's hooked up. My problem is it still won't quickshift. Do you have to connect the phone with the ecm droid app and connect it, and then leave it on with your phone? I followed the directions but have yet to enjoy the QS function of this! Any help is appreciated- you could also email me: senels02@gmail.com |

There is a setting that needs to be changed on the ECM and you also need to calibrate the QS. Did you follow the instructions? |

The quick shifter it self has to be adjusted to match a certain tolerance. You have to view its readout with the app and make sure its in range. once that is done, there is also a check box I believe (been a few years) for enabling the quick shifter function. Once it is changed you have to save and program the ecu through the buelltooth for the changes to be applied. Before doing anything I would "read" and then save a backup of your ecu file before editing any check boxes or settings. |

Once the bike is programmed disconnect the buelltooth and cap off the bikes connector. The use of the phone is no longer needed. Think of the buelltooth as a tuning adapter that allows for the phone / laptop to connect momentarily for tuning the bikes ecu. |

Race ECM (at least mine) had the box already checked when I went into the app for the first time. I found I liked the settings on the more sensitive side, meaning the engine cut out happens with less shifter movement (longer linkage I believe). DOwnside is it's easy to inadvertantly cutout the motor if you accidentally touch the shifter. I can also say over time you will get more precise with your left foot, so this happens less an less. Also, anyone who is familiar with RC cars/trucks can see the QS linkage is the same as those used in RC cars/trucks. Just in case you booger it up, you should be able to get the linkage and or screws at your local hobby store in a pinch. (Message edited by fresnobuell on May 18, 2019) |
