I'm still trying to learn the ins/outs of tuning the ECM via TunerPro RT using the BUE2D_V5's definition files. While comparing the EBR vs Stock .xpr's, I was looking at both the Map2D: Idle Air Control Startup and the Table: Idle Correction which do have differences. The Question is, how do you guys really know what those parameters do? When I go to ECMSPY to lookup the parameters, they just repeat what is already in the definition files. Thanks in advance! |

Some are obvious however some are not clear at all, I am looking at changing the engine braking at the moment and will basically be trying different things to see what changes I get based on what others have found or think may work. |

Thanks Stimbrell! I'm looking forward to seeing what parameters are required to be tweaked for your Engine Braking adventure. Did you ever get to test out the .95% deceleration correction? I'm going to have some time Friday evening to play with that setting as well. I wish my flash also had some engine braking. |

A lot of tuning the ECM comes with experience, you often have to make some changes and test them out to get a feel for it. All I can suggest to you is that when you do decide to make changes, make only ONE CHANGE AT A TIME, otherwise you may end up with a compounded effect from multiple changes at once. This can lead to some unpredictable and undesirable behavior, which can be very frustrating. One change at a time until you know what you're doing. Regarding the idle air control, just keep in mind that the ECM has 2 different modes of controlling the idle air control strategy. One of them is to use a setpoint map and the other is a setpoint table. You can tell which one your ECM is set to by inspecting your flags (Idle Air Control Configuration: Use setpoint map). If this is set, then the Map is used, otherwise the Table is used. In my experience tuning the Rotax I've found that the engine is more sensitive to small changes. Far more so than the XB's Harley derived engine. It's a lot easier to end up in a situation where a change you made results in the engine not even starting at all! So... just small changes at a time. |

+100% on the one change at a time. The reason I have not done anything with the engine braking yet is the quick shifter from Buelltooth arrived and I have been playing with that this week, only found out about the shifter recently on this forum, if you like the performance of the 1125, get this shifter, seriously, it is a brilliant upgrade for this bike! |

Harlan, If you want a quick shifter, there are inexpensive ones that upshift well, but then there are those that down shift with a computer controlled throttle blipper. The latter cost just under $2K. None are plug & play. All require extensive tuning to get right. |

Frensnobuell: Because these bikes aren't throttle by wire, the term "quick shifter" is used for the 99.99% as an UP-shift only ignition or fuel/ignition kill. No need for "extensive tuning" The DDFI-3 ECM in '-08-up Buells has the programming built in. All you need to do is access the ECM (through ECMDroid, ECMSpy, or TunerPRO) and turn it on. Super, super, easy install. Check out the video on the site that sells them (Buelltooth.com) |

I seriously think it's the best upgrade I've done the the STT and the EBR. Makes riding them WAY more fun and easy! |

As said above, easy to install, no need to make any changes to the stock wiring of the bike and works great all for $150.00, these bikes should have had this fitted as stock. |

I did check out Buelltooth website. Pleasantly surprised (shocked even) that someone is making cool upgrades for our bikes at this stage in the game. I purchased the QS and Buelltooth for $185. If this is as good as it appears, this certainly would be the best performance upgrade since the race ECMs came out from EBR. Inexpensive, works well, plug & play, performance enhancing, an upgrade I thought would only come with a new bike. Checks all the boxes for me!
