If you happen to be in the market for a valve shim kit, like the Hot Cams HCSHIM31 kit suitable for an 1125 Helicon motor, and buy through Amazon, think twice before buying from Fly Motorsports in Texas. I screwed up initially. No doubt about it. I mis-remembered the number of the kit, and ordered the 7.whatever mm shim kit instead of the 10mm kit I needed. The seller initially showed a delivery date of Aug 4-Aug 9th. I gambled on it, figuring Texas isn't that far from me. Next thing I know, the tracking is showing a delivery date of Aug 9th. I contacted the seller through Amazon, and said WTF? Next thing I know, I got a message from the seller saying "We just checked, and the tracking shows it's 'been' delivered today (Aug 3), a day early! Yay! Okay, I got it and found out I ordered the wrong kit. I sent them a message, told them I screwed up and ordered the wrong kit, and did they stock the right one? Got a reply, saying "yes, we stock the one you need," and gave me specific directions for using the Amazon return system, but to put a message in the 'Comments' section saying I talked to so and so, I needed an exchange for p/n such and such, and it would be taken care of. I added specifically that I was at a standstill on this motor waiting for the shims, and I would pay extra to expedite the return process and shipment, Shipping to me was included in the original price. I shipped the wrong kit last Friday, with the Amazon provided USPS First Class shipping label. The Amazon return instructions indicate (or at least give the impression) that once the return is in the hands of the shipper, a refund or exchange will be processed. The return was supposed to get to them Monday, but was delayed by the post office until Wednesday. I had heard nothing as of today, so I sent another message, following the one I sent Wednesday that brought no response. I got a reply this afternoon, telling me that my order had been sent to the warehouse, and they would send a tracking number as soon as they had one... I checked the credit card I use on Amazon today...there are two identical $42 charges pending from Amazon that are not associated with any purchases... I knew I was going to have to pay some shipping, but I have a really bad feeling about this deal... And BTW, I realized last Friday afternoon, I could have just asked for a refund from the original seller, and ordered the right kit from a different seller, a Prime deal, that would have cost me about $8 more, but would have got the kit to me last Sunday. I should have...but I thought I'd be a nice guy and continue the transaction with the original seller, who does not offer Prime on the kits... My mistake. Next time, I'll remember to look past the first page of sellers if I don't see Prime. |
