I am swapping my spare engine into my CR temporarily, to allow me to check both motors out, in different ways. I want to run the spare, see if any issues show up, and I want to look the original motor over closely. In the process of getting it ready to pull, I dropped the sump screen which I checked at 7700 miles, and found a small piece of epoxy off of the perimeter of the rotor. This time, at 12,500 miles, there's a bunch more. I pulled the ignition cover off today, was able to confirm the rotor has the oil hole in the hub. I gather from searching and reading that it's not uncommon for the epoxy to come off the rotor. Does anyone know why it comes off? Is there a point where it goes out of balance? Is there any risk in continuing too run it like this? |
