New to me '08 1125r, third owner, I'm just diggin' in and learning. I went in and reset the clock and trip odos and tried to check the security PIN too...guess what, it's not 0000. The guy I bought it from is not responding...paper's are all sorted and straight, so I'm not worried about it being stolen at all, but I'd like to be able to set the PIN to my own choice...tips? | ||

Red...you may have read that the '08s have a parasitic drain on the battery caused by the security system...if you want the battery to to be available for your next ride...you must shut the bike off with the kill switch and leave it off...it will disconnect the IC from the bike's battery....next time you get ready for a ride...don't forget to turn on the kill switch. I doubt anyone will publish how to reset the pin ....as it could border on aiding a theft of a 1125...afraid you'll have to go to a HD dealer to get the PIN reset. hth | ||

Per HD there isn't any way for a dealer to reset the security PIN. If the speedo and ECM are locked out you'll need to replace both of them. This is from tech services at HD. | ||

Thanks Nuts, that's a GOOD tip. I've got mine sitting on a battery tender but can't always. Good to know. Didn't read that yet. 651, yah, upon deeper digging I found that too. I'm not locked out. I would just like to set it back to 0000 at some point because I won't be using the PIN any time soon. Next pocket/bike money comes in I need a race ECM anyway and I hear that clears/resets/can program the PIN. |
