Have noticed a lessening of posts to this section. Are there fewer '09 1125's out there? I've had no problems stator wise since installing a Compufire series VR abt 10,000 miles ago. I suspect as we get farther out from Oct 2009 there will be fewer 1125's on the road. I do wonder about the future. What a major item failure would do.

Thoughts?

All the Buell boards are quieter overall these days, just less of them out there and most Buell owners also have other bikes.

That and there isn't anything really new to talk about, pretty much every issue has been documented to death, so when something happens you can find a post someone made in 2011 with the fix.

Stock stator and VR in my 2009 1125R at 7,500 miles. Voltage level is still good. Possibly the 4 quarts of oil in machine helping to cool the stator...and no blue exhaust smoke from too much oil. As long as I don't get hydraulic lock...

Lost my display followed by a systems voltage error message and 16.5+ volts showing on the cluster, this was 500 miles after a VR upgrade(original mount position).
After a recurrence three times on the same ride, i altered my leg position, and in seconds the voltage returned to normal parameters.
seems even the upgrade is susceptible to the minimal airflow that the original mount position has.
I don't think the VR has been damaged and it only happened in extreme heat on fast roads.
its been fine since. I will alter air stream or move it when i get some time.

Regards to all

Just in case the last post was a bit vague.
When 'Tucked-in'and blasting along an Autobahn, my left leg was obscuring the Air-flow duct hole in the fairing.
By moving my left leg out into the air stream it deflected cool air at speed into the fairing duct and rapidly cooled the overheated VR
From that point, when the battery voltage started to spike i moved my leg and the voltage immediately returned to normal

My 09' was new and the stator died within the first year. HD fixed it under warrantee but I'm wondering.. how do I tell if it's still operating fine? I'm a noob to electronics and just curious if there are any warning signs to look out for.

toggle over and watch the voltage as you ride

What will it do as I ride (assuming there's a problem)?

I don't know much about what the proper behavior of the voltage meter is... mine tends to stay above 13v, is that good? What's a bad # look like?

Well my stator just gave up the ghost at about 31,000

It was partially toasted at 3,000 and I did the EBR stator upgrade........so it's done well

Sucker was still running at 10v, finally died when I pulled in the clutch at 9.x V
