That wanna-be-Britten is a good looking scooter, if I do say so myself. The motor and transmission aren't aesthetically pleasing, but I like the body work, perimeter rotor, cantilevered rear suspension, etc. |

Beautiful Bike!! In 1979 I bought a 79 Honda CX 500 Deluxe (big gas tank) brand new! I put on Air forks up front and a pair of racing shocks and superbike handlebars(1" rise=ATC 90=superbike). Heavy and clunky became very agile with 7lbs. air balanced between the forks. The engine positioning and driveline made this bike a Japanese Baby Ducati. Timing Chain tension and Valve adjustments were a weekly process. The engine actually loosened up to the point that at 9,000 miles it was worn out. A big plus of this design is that it is Super Easy bike to work on. The Honda Warranty Was Slow In Coming. Honda Blamed it on the Oil I used. I called the Corporate Oil Office in Los Angeles. LA stood behind their product. I called Honda and informed them of situation with LA. I gave Honda LA's inside line and call number. Two weeks later Honda's regional rep calls and says new motor, come and get your bike you pay shop fees. |
