It makes no sense to sell these at so low prices. If you want something else, fine, go buy it and just park the Buell. These are pretty special and soon to be relatively rare. Just park it in secure storage somewhere. They will never be worth less than they are today.

Interesting take on it Stevel. I have a second 1125r that I bought during the fire sale. I was considering selling it, but I know the market is terrible for this bike. I would like to free up the garage space for sure, but I don't want to give it away either.

Not just the 1125R either, that's why I won't sell my Uly. It's worth much more to me than it is to anyone else.

I guess it's great if you want to purchase one, not so great when you want to sell it. : )

Exactly. The good news is that wringing $1000 of fun in a year from pretty much any Buell ever made has never been very difficult.

How upside down can you ever be?

Djohnk – Hopefully this doesn’t sound like I am beating on a dead horse. You mentioned the white 1125R you are looking at is not Hildstrom’s ex-bike since the motorcycle has lower mileage than the mileage at which Hildstrom sold his bike. But, you initially expressed concern about the bike’s true mileage earlier in this message thread (“The owner put new tires, he says due to dry rot”, etc.). Also, it has to be extremely rare to have another white 1125R with an aftermarket VR attached to the stock 1125R tail, with black zip-ties, all in the same part of the country. (Hildstrom also apparently used parachute cord, in addition to the zip-ties, for additional mounting restraint of the aftermarket VR, according to an old message board post.)

Did Hildstrom give any other information that would indicate the bike in question is not his ex-bike besides the mileage (such as VIN)?

FYI, I put a new take-off IC bought from Imperial, the company that bought the Ronin take-off parts, on my '09 CR.
The bike had just over 9,000 miles on it.
The IC had about 4 miles.
When I installed it, the IC started out from the mileage on it, not the miles on the bike.

The bike has an ECM marked Race Use Only. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

I also put the IC off the CR on the '08 R that I picked up. It showed over 17,000 miles with the original IC. The IC I put on shows the 9,000 miles that were on it when I took it off the CR.
This bike has a stock looking ECM with a Power Commander V installed.

Bottom line is the ECM might write existing mileage to an unused IC, but won't to one that has been previously installed.

I concur with Stevel. In my opinion, there is literally nothing else in the $4K price range that I would even remotely rather have than my 1125R. While they might depreciate a little more, I can't see a decent-shape 1125R ever being worth less than $3K.

In order to justify buying something newer, like a Tuono 1100, I'd have to sell my 1125R and my '05 Triumph Speed Triple. The Tuono, for example, might be a better bike than the 1125R or the 1050 independently, but when faced with the choice of having two great bikes or having one incrementally greater bike, I can't bring myself to part with what I've got.
