To start with what's going on, I was lucky enough to pick up a 09 cr the other month. It's everything I didn't know I was looking for. I ended up picking up a fund exhaust from another member on the board here for it. Now the bike had come with the ebr ecm for a k&n that was in it. Now that I have added the exhaust and done a tps reset is there anything I need to do with the ecm? I've read up on some of the other threads pertaining to adding exhausts but still am a little confused. Could someone shed a little light on whether I need to add the exhaust to the ecm or something else. |

The ECM should be matched to your exhaust. So if you have a brand X exhaust the ECM should have the map for brand X. |

That's not entirely accurate. I've used the HMF ecm with different exhausts with no problem. In fact, (as I often refer to) the original exhaust shoot out was done with one ecm and if I remember correctly it was the HMF. Regardless, a matched ecm is going to be the closes tune but i wouldn't hesitate putting a HMF ecm on a FMF if it was all I had. Now, having said that if you have a race ecm set up for the factory exhaust that would be a bad idea as it is far more restricted then a straight through exhaust. |

As long as the general exhaust design is the same then yes it could work and as most of the exhausts are glass pack design then it will "work" but not optimal... ...and for the 1125 shootout, the ECMs were tuned per exhaust system and widebands were used. The HMF pipe wasn't even used for the shootout. (Message edited by terrys1980 on June 05, 2016) |

Sorry, I just realized autocorrect too out that it was an fmf pipe. There was no tuning in the ecm for the exhaust. Now if I buy the connector to hook it up to a computer I will just need to find the proper map for the fmf pipe and the k&n ? Or does there need to be a specific ebr ecm map that is needed since it is an ebr ecm? |

That ECM is not tuned for that exhaust and you risk lean damage running the bike with the exhaust and not the correct ECM. If this is the bike I think it is you are tuned for stock exhaust and K&N only. (Message edited by nikoff90 on June 05, 2016) |

Actually they used broadbands, programmables, but the map they used was FMF not HMF as I previously thought. Just couldn't remember as I stated. |
