I'm seeing so many bounced back and forth.

Do we, at this point, feel strongly on one regulator over the other?
Do some over certain advantage over others?
Do they solve the 2k and below range?
Do the solve the 4k and below range?
What is our best option so far?

Here is what I have seen recommended:

CE 605-SB
SH847 R/R
55402
FH008EE
FH020AA

Anything I'm missing?

Simply, I'm confused. (I do have the upgraded rotor)

I run the FH020AA and have it mounted in the stock location. No problems so far. I've had it for 12500 miles.

Fred...some (technical)info in this old thread:
http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/ 629084.html?1303997177

the "FH" type of VR are common on most rice burners...these are MOSFET type voltage regulators ( made by Shindengen, MOSFET = MOS metal oxide substrate, FET field effect transistor- it does the work of SHUNTING the power on/off) this shunting of excess "electrical power" to the heat sinks in their cases...they need to be mounted in such a way that cooling air is always flowing over them...if they overheat they fail (the MOSFET fails) and could cause issues with the stator...or at least a dead battery when you least need it.

The CE 605-SB (roadstercycle), SH847 ( Shindengen) and the 55402 are SERIES type voltage regulators..a better way to handle the switching of electrical power ( and they cost more), but they also need air flow to keep the excess power from burning them up.

which is better?
the shunt type works well when there is small variations LOAD. (like in your computer's power supply)

the series type works well when there is large variations of LOAD. (like when you start the bike and the battery drops voltage big time...the VR has to respond to get that battery back up to 12VDC)

...it has to do with the LOAD that the system is "seeing" and how the VR reacts...I'm an ME not an EE, but that's how it was explained to me many moons ago.

Of all the threads, That is the best explanation of VR differences!

I did read that thread before I posted, but that is what made wonder... which of these regulators is going to be best for the 1125cr?

Do we have an answer to that?

HINT: the series type works well when there is large variations of LOAD. (like when you start the bike and the battery drops voltage big time...the VR has to respond to get that battery back up to 12VDC)

So, it doesn't matter which series to get, we can get any as long as it is series?

Just trying to determine if there is a clear winner out of the series regulators...

Fred...
1)do some research on the size and the mounting...airflow is critical to the success of bleeding off (heat) energy.
2) which one can easily connect to the circuits on the bike...please please learn how to solder or use the correct crimp tool if you use a connector type interface.
3)Please plan on adding an inline fuse (40amp) or circuit breaker to the pos (+) output wire to the battery...in case one doesn't come with the VR...you can easily purchase one at an autoparts store.
good luck...may the volts be with you!

I recently installed the SH847 on my 1125R. It is mounted directly behind my license plate where there is good airflow. The existing bolt pattern on the license plate mount did not require any modifications. It bolted right in place. I also replaced my headlights with LED lights for less draw. My stator seems to run much cooler. The case is cooler and my coolant temperature is about 5 degrees F cooler, which was unexpected. The SH847 draws current as needed from the stator whereas the stock regulator forced the stator to run full output all of the time causing it to breakdown from heat (so I read).

Can anyone shed some light with their personal experience using Rick's hot shot rectifier?

I'm no the fence of going with this product but I haven't heard feedback (good or bad) with this product.

Thanks guys

Thank Yankeerl, I decided to go with the CE 605 SB, now I'm in the "where am I going to mount this" stage.
