Having pretty much pushed my lumbar spine over the edge with my Buells, I had some hi-tech testing done, and had the discs at L3-4,L4-5, and L5-S1 replaced with high-tech carbon fiber discs and super high tech bone growth stimulator. Dr Michael O'Brien, of the Southwest Scoliosis Institute oversaw and performed most of the surgery. Pretty cool stuff they do there these days |

Very cool! When I broke my neck in 2001, the only extra parts I got were stainless. Not even Titanium, cheap bastards... Z |

Thanks Z. What limitations did they put on you then? Dr Mike basically says if It doesn't hurt, do it. (Within reason). |

Are you riding on the balls of you feet with the pegs, like a jockey on a horse? |

Danny, I got home Sunday, 9 days after surgery, and haven't been inclined to do more than look to make sure everything is here yet. If anyone including me ever tells you a three level lumbar disc removal-fusion with both anterior and posterior entry doesn't hurt and continue to do so for a while, you have my permission to call them a liar. On the good side, you can believe them when they tell you the day of surgery that if you get out of bed and sit in a chair for a while it will be easier to do tomorrow, and the more you exercise in recovery the easier it will get. As someone with buldging disks (L3/L4/L5) and burnings sciatica goodness, I've done all I can with the CR to make it long distance-able. Best wishes on your recovery and rehab! Get back in that saddle! |

John, IIRC the surgeon just said take it easy and stop when it hurts... I have continued to stretch regularly and can touch my chin to either shoulder. Lots of low grade pain from the connective tissue where it doesn't move anymore. C4-C6 fused. Z |
