So i have seen this post before but i did not see any answer that really helped me out. I recently purchased a 08 1125r from a used dealership. I had the bike for about 3 days and got tired of "service now" flashing every time i started it, so i checked to make sure that it had been serviced and then turned the service mode off. Somehow in that process the 4 digit security pin got turned back on, so no i cant even crank it. I tried the factory "0000" or last 4 of the vin and neither worked. I have called multiple harley dealers and they all tell me that i have to replace the IC and ECM in order to fix it. Does anyone know how to either restore the pin to factory or just bypass the pin? | ||

Far as I know, you have to enter a PIN to change the security settings, including turning the system ON. I'm not aware of any way you could turn the system on without a PIN, short of activating a system that was set to alarm mode... Aside from that, have you tried going back to the dealership you bought it from? | ||

Its been at the dealer for a week now. I got tired of waiting so i called harleys main office, they said i have to replace the IC and ECM | ||

Jrbrock14 you are correct, both the ECM and the Speedo are now in lock down mode. Both will need to be replaced to start the bike again if the PIN cant be found. If you find a used speedo and a new ecm the miles from the speedo will be your new miles that the bike will show. The miles will be set by what unit has the most miles on them, the ECM or speedo. | ||

I checked with tech services at HD and that's what they confirmed with me. New ECM and used UNLOCKED speedo. If the used speedo is locked you're back to the beginning.  | ||

Maybe I'm not understanding the question. If you have the PIN for your speedo and can unlock it you should be set to go. If you buy a used locked speedo and have the PIN for that one your ECM will still be locked out. I just was talking to Tim at IDS and he said he could unlock the ECM (I'm not sure of the cost)but cant do the speedo. | ||

Ok, so the ecm can be unlocked but i will need a new speedo that is unlocked in that case. | ||

Correct. Contact Tim at IDS for the cost of clearing the ECM and you need a new or unlocked used speedo. I do have the new ones in stock if you cant good used one. | ||

Lance, welcome to the board. I've bought a couple of items from you on EBay in the recent past. Do you have any idea of how the alarm could have been activated without a PIN being entered? I had an '08 IC that had to be set to TURN ON WHEN KEY OFF to get it to TURN OFF WHEN KEY OFF, but the alarm mode activated immediately when the setting was changed with the PIN. | ||

Has the dealer you got it from tried to contact the previous owner to see if they have the code ? Btw I have a stock Ecm, I just put a race ecm on my 08 | ||
