This is probably old news to some, but in case anyone else wondered, you can use an R fairing and bracket on a CR with high bars. My low back is still screwed, but new meds and more epidural injections have reduced the pain in my leg to the point where I can hobble to the shop and pretend to work. It took me the better part of a week, but I got the wiring sorted out, fairing stay, headlights, and fairing mounted, and a few other details finished, Biggest hangup at the moment is attempting to put disconnects in the wires for the aftermarket mirrors that came with the R. Those tiny wires are a bitch to work with. If anyone has any stock R mirrors they want to get rid of, let me know. I was concerned about bar to fairing interference at the side stops, but there is no problem. Sorry about the lousy pic, I'll get a better one when it's finished and outside. Another view. I realized that a previous owner of the R had converted the marker lights to turn signals, and the last owner had crudely installed the aftermarket LED mirrors by cutting away the insulation on the marker/turn signal light wires, and wrapped/twisted the ends of the mirror/signal wires around them, and wrapped some tape around them. The wires for the mirror/signals must be about 26 gauge...a royal PITA to work with. Haven't decided for sure what I'm going to do with it, but that crap isn't going to stay that way. The bracket that formerly supported the IC isn't as intrusive as it looks in the pic. I may pick up another top clamp and cut the bracket off, or may use it to mount an LCD monitor when I install the Power Commander V. (Message edited by Panshovevo on November 14, 2015) |

@panshovevo did you have any bar clearence issues with the fairing? Did you raise the faring? Thanks for the info. Do you have a pics of the finished product? I would love to see them. |

I recently bought an 08r knowing full well I was going to do similar. I purchased a set of Rox risers and a Cr high bar kit. I then pulled the top triple and had a welder add support to the underside of the clamp while removing the forward bar mounts. I then mounted the Rox risers to the triple clamp. You need to extend the wiring to the controls and the change in bar position is at about the limit allowed by the high bar kit due to length of the brake line. The kit would allow for higher if it wasn't for the brake line as the clutch and throttle cables still have some allowable length to move the bars further up and/or back. I did it this way as I can add spacers under the rox risers if needed - currently it is right where I'd like them, but that may change. By the looks of the pics both pans bars and mine are nearly in the same position. @Zhen - I don't know about pans set-up but they look very similar - I'll try to post a pic at some point, but I don't have any clearance issues other than a very light touch of the airbox cover at full lock to each side. Using the magura bars from Buell set seems to be a in pretty good spot as I don't rub any on the fairing or stays and only (very lightly) touch the airbox at full lock. |

@Ceejay I would love to see some pics. I am trying to decide if I should get a CR with Highbars and add the fairing or if I should just go more the route you are talking and convert my 08 1125R to Highbars. I was just going to get a CR upper triple tree and add an ignition mount. But either way looking to make a full fairing 1125 with Highbars. Something along these lines. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/508194.html?1289666401 |

The ZG corsa windscreen is much taller if you want more wind coverage. Looks and works great. |

I believe that's the windscreen I have - came with the bike when I got it along with uly rider pegs. Here's a few pics of my set-up. There's two bolts in each riser (from Rox, but I can't remember the name) one is visible in the pic and the other is directly under the handlebar. At some point I will be having new lines made - these are the ones from Buell high bar kit purchased from American Sport Bike, but I'd like to add 1/2" in rise mostly so I can rotate the bars counterclockwise in their mounting while not touching the airbox cover at full lock. currently the bars don't angle down quite enough for my likeing. Sorry I never got photos of filling in the underside but in a nutshell the field between the outline of the major connection points of the top triple clamp is very thin - 1/8" or so to save weight, so I had a welder fill in that area and then bead blast it - then I shot the whole thing with exhaust black because that's what I had laying around.

here's another with a little better lighting. Pan - I have an 08r mirror right side only. signal works, does need some sticky taken off of the mirror from the previous owner putting a cat eye on it. 25 bucks shipped it your interested. The left got broken by the PO. I put XBr mirrors on mine and moved the signals to the marker lights, I've heard but have no proof that the 1125r mirrors vibrate too much to be useful, plus they are darn expensive.

Thanks Zhen13 - it really improved the riding position for me - now I just need to tweek it a bit more and add some hard bags and I'll be all set. here's another that I forgot I took prior to having it welded and cut - shows the change side by side...

Yeah zac did a great job on that bike, I think he wrote it up on here too, describing tubing, bags, additions, etc. I'm not sure I need bags that big, they are thicker/wider than my RK. @Pan-what did you end up doing with the key? That was where I always got hung up when thinking about using a CR top triple...it's probably six of one half a dozen of the other by adding a key mount to the CR after cutting off the IC mount. There was a guy who had done it so I know it can be done, just probably not the easiest. |

@Ceejay I was planning on fabricating a ignition mount an drilling some holes in the CR tree and threading them and mounting the ignition to it. Something along these lines but less involved. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/508194.html?1289666401 And then I thought about this option too that eliminates the whole ignition completely. http://www.digitalguarddawg.com/motorcycle/keyless -ignitions-full-line |

Ceejay - were you just referencing the 1125RT? If so, that was done by my friend Neil (Ccryder) in Tennessee, not me. Z |

My apologies Zac and Niel, sorry for getting you two mixed up. It was an excellent job on the bike done by Neil... The keyless thing would be a neat way to go...especially if you don't have to cut into anything (which despite it's initial cost always seems to be the cheaper option in the long run)... |
