I know this has been discussed before, but can't seem to find a consensus of what to get. I have an 09 CR, when I crank it I get the ecm comm error and it doesn't start the first time. I have the Keda RT3 and the EBR ecm. I haven't replaced the battery since i purchased it, tho I do leave it on a tender daily. I am going with replacing the battery to start. I do live in a cold weather climate so I believe that comes into play. |

you'll want a SEALED agm battery, not an old school lead-acid battery. and make sure the polarity/terminals are correct otherwise you'll fry the fuel pump if you hook it up backwards. there's a bunch of fancy litium ion type batteries that are pretty trick, but I have been rocking the big & heavy 'sealed' AGM batterys that I get from the auto parts stores. when they wear out I keep them for boat anchors |

I bought my new Duracell for slightly more than $100 on Sunday. Installation was <30 minutes. It took longer to return the core! |

Anyone running an Anti-Gravity Lithium battery in their bike? I was just looking at them for weight savings and large power. They list the standard (12 cell) at 320CCA and the hi-power (16 cell) at 480CCA. The down site is the price $220 for standard and $290 for hi-power model. Does have a 3 year warranty, curious about the longevity of them over the years. Any feedback about them would be great. Thanks Jeremy Sorry for hijacking your thread. |

Just make sure the positive terminal is on the right. Most batteries this size have them on the left. |

do not buy a battery with a caged nut terminal! The terminals are very fragile. |

Soooo, I tested my battery at work and it had 280cca. Battery is supposed to have 205. It's a stock Harley battery. At a little loss, starter cranks, get the comm error and as far as I know all my connections are good. |

Germblast, I'm running a Shorai Lithium battery. This is the second one I've used. The first one I accidentally shorted out which killed it within a few months. This second one's working great for me. It has plenty of power to crank the beast, and it's about 9 lbs. lighter than the stock Harley battery. When I first installed it, I couldn't believe how much lighter the CR felt just standing the bike straight up from the side stand. I think it was so noticeable because the battery mounts high above the center of gravity. The only thing I would warn you about is, make sure you disconnect the negative terminal if the bike sits for more than two days between rides, because it will quickly drain the battery. I think mine has a parasitic drain when the bike is sitting for a few days. This can and will destroy your battery if you let it get too low on a charge too often. When it's disconnected, it will hold a charge for a long time. |

The PO had issues w/ his battery staying charged; i'll have to go out and look at the specs, but, it's been very reliable |

I leave mine on a tender when leaving it for the next ride. Has anyone else got the comm error when cranking your bike over? I would opt for a larger cca battery if it was reliable. I know lithium batteries don't like the cold. In NY we get more cold months than not. |

Just to be clear... The PO of my bike had issues with the original battery holding a charge. So he opted for the lithium as an upgrade. [I might not have conveyed that well] Its true, the lithium's will suffer some with the cold. Lowest I've cranked mine up was like 38 degrees. It did fine. One tip, that some one here gave was, you turn the key on with lights and everything for a few minutes prior to cranking. It allows the battery to "warm up" I guess. Seemed to work good. |
