I was going through the owners manual for my 08 and inventorying the items and there appears to an extra item. I have this extra cable, looks like something in a figure 8 and crimp together in the middle. Maybe it's for using a helmet and hook it on the place under the passenger seat. I'd try to take a picture and post it here but I have no idea how.please let me know.

Is this how it should hang from the hook and cable?

Awesome, thanks. Does seem like the cable could scratch the tail sides. I did try it without the cable and the D-ring did fit on the hook, but it was tight.

Curious what others do to secure the helmet to the bike and not have to carry it around.

Thanks

I hook D ring right to that hook, dont use the extra cable.
There isnt a lot of wiggle room, but Id rather do that than risk that cable scratching the plastic

The 2009s didn't come with this cable?

DONT hang it on the clutch side if you still have the drip tube that exits the rear footpeg....that was a surprise

Hmm, never saw this with my 2008, don't have with my 2009.

I never even realized we had a helmet lock until about a month ago, when I decided to find a place to use as a lock and found the tab. Doh!! lol

Should have been in EVERY blue-bag toolkit starting with the XB's in 2003.

Hybrid, didn't know anything about the drip tube, but will take a look for it later when I get home.

How many people leave there jacket with the bike too. I'm inclined to do it instead of carrying my heavy leather jacket around.

Thanks
