Hi, My new love brings me a lot of unpleasant surprises New istalled H-D battery got drained during the 4 days of resting in the garage. Battery was not connected to the tender. But is it normal? there was no key inserted. Strange... |

Some 2008 1125R bike had a parasitic drain on the battery when off due to an issue in the instrument cluster. This can be avoided by always stopping the motor with the handle bar kill switch first, then turning the ignition key to the off position. The other possibility is a short somewhere. Charge the battery back up if you can and try the switch and see if that helps. Also have you checked the battery voltage to make sure that there is not a charging issue. You can access all sorts of data in the cluster diagnosis mode. |

2008 bikes have a "parasitic drain"...a constant drain on the battery due to the theft deterrent (burglar alarm) built into the instrument panel...you MUST turn off the "Kill Switch" (on the right handle bar/clip on) to turn off this drain on the battery. The only way to fix the issue is to upgrade to a 2009 version of the instrument panel...the 2009 panel has a gear indicator...the 2008 does not. hope this helps |

I have a 2010. Can I assume it's the same as a 2009? |

I believe they were mostly the same. Not sure if they came with the upgraded rotor. I know the engine case had the sight glass for 2010. |

in regards to the sequence of turning off the bike to prevent the battery drain. Stop the bike with the stop/run switch on the bars, then turn the key off. Do you leave the stop/run switch in the stop position or place it back to run after the key is off? I normally leave the stop/run switch on stop position until I'm ready to start the bike. Thanks Jeremy |

The start stop switch is to remain in the off position till you are ready to start the bike. Cluster's pop up on e-bay from time to time. I would grab one when it pops up. I believe you would want the one that ends in 2am to bet the most updated one. |
