Hi guys, I have a stock 1125CR with only one mod: an EBR race ECM programmed for my stock bike and European fuel. What happens when I replace the air Filter with a K&N filter? Do I need to reprogram the ECM? | ||

Well, I am confused again, not just with you, but others as well when they describe their ECM as a "Race ECM". Often that is NOT true. A race ECM is labeled by EBR as a race ECM and when delivered, it comes with a CD containing the software to program the thing. These ECMs do not support closed loop operation and do not require O2 sensors to operate. Very often folks here call a EBR programmed ECM a race ECM and it is not. It just has a custom tune. So, now that I have had my bitch of the day, in answer to your question, probably not. Of course, the only way to know for sure is to drive your bike with wide band O2 sensors plugged into a Data Logger. Your question does bring up a valid point though. Without doing the data logger thing, nobody really knows. Even EBR, without testing, they can only make a wild ass guess. They will simply load a configuration that they think matches a test they did before on someone else's bike. | ||

Hi Steve, I am very sorry. Maybe i got confused by the "for race use only" label... I meant the EBR tuned, off the shelf, factory programmed ECM. Would the K&N filter have a negative effect on the running characteristics of my bike, since it has a less restricted air flow? Just wanted to know that I am not messing things up. | ||

What Stevel says is true but generally the EBR map should be close enough for all but a perfect tune which is like chasing rainbows on a street bike. Well there is a logical reason people call them race ECM's. They are marked RACE USE ONLY for legal reasons  NOTE: The ECM is shipped with a non-customizable calibration, and no options are available.
